Cycling, hcg and increased odds of pregnancy

Alright so it's proven that you can still knock up your chick on cycle but does running hcg during your cycle significantly improve those odds or does it balance out with the reduced chance since you're on cycle?

I ask because I just found out a chick had an abortion on me without telling me and while going to my friend to console he told me he had the same exact expierence last year with his girl!! We cycled together and were both on hcg when it happened, he won't touch hcg again he says it gives him super sperm and shit I get it....
