For the past year pretty much I’ve been getting about an average of 4-5 hours of sleep per night for weeks, sometimes months on end. I’ve always had pretty shitty sleep, but with business and life stresses, it’s been exacerbated. Couple that with a bad episode of food poisoning in January, brings me to the 2nd problem I have which is my appetite.
I know fixing my sleep will help increase appetite as I know sleep is super important for everything health wise, not to mention recovery and training etc. I’m also taking measures to reduce life and work stresses and take a step back..
Anyone have experience with Hydroxyzine for help with sleep? I read through the sleep aid thread and found a couple posts, maybe 2-3 people who had experience with Hydroxyzine but was hoping to get a little more insight??
My issue with appetite is after the food poisoning I noticed I couldn’t digest certain foods the same, after eliminating foods, researching about digestive health and optimizing it to what works for me etc, I basically can’t eat fatty foods or red meats, I mean, I CAN, but they just don’t agree with me or digest well AT ALL anymore, even small portions that would usually leave me starving before, I get bloating, indigestion, that “stuck” feeling in my gut for 6+ hours and halts my appetite even more..
Basically my diet is narrowed down to;
Fats: Trace fats in whatever protein I’m eating, Olive Oil, Occasional small amount of Avocado, 2-3 egg yolks at most at a time etc
Protein: Chicken Breast, Boneless/Skinless Chicken Thigh, Ground Chicken, Lean Ground Turkey, Shrimp, Snapper, Grouper, Egg Whites, Whey, Oikos Protein Yogurt
Carbs: Jasmine Rice, Cream of Rice, Sourdough Bread, Pasta, Fruit, Honey, Natural Jams, Smaller amounts of Potatoes/Sweet Potatoes
Now I know for some of you guys eating as much as 1000g of carbs a day is pretty easy. Not even close for me
I find it pretty hard to put down the volume of clean food needed to grow (which is nowhere near that amount) and with a suffering appetite on top of that, it makes it even harder..
I researched with ChatGPT about Cyproheptadine, and it said that a lot of bodybuilders have been known to use it to assist appetite. It’s prescribed for people who can’t eat with cancers and other diseases as well as people with anorexia.. Says it’s an antihistamine with serotonin antagonist and basically increases hunger through those pathways.
Anyone got any experience with Cyproheptadine??
Side Note: I am measuring my food intake and know that even slight and slow increases of even 100 calories can make a difference long term and not disrupt digestion (thank you @Doitagain for that advice) but just looking for something that might help a little bit, at least to get me used to eating bigger volumes and open up my appetite and maybe get up to a new baseline? No idea what I’m talking about
