Dairy Free Protein Option

My daughter has a Dairy and Peanut allergy. In an effort to get her daily required protein, supplementation is almost a must.

I am having a hard time because most of the products are whey based or processed in a facility that also manufactures other proteins or uses shared equipment that poses a risk for cross contamination.

I am sure this is not a new problem however for myself and my family it is. The pediatrician and allergist are hopeful she will grow out of it but as for right now she has a very pronounced and potentially life threatening allergy to each.

I appreciate all the help!

I'm not 100% sure but I think I remember Dante stating equipment had to be completely cleaned before switching product to alleviate concerns regarding contamination.

I'm sure if he sees this he will chime in. Or others in the know.
If that is correct there are plenty of proteins out there for use, pea, egg white, beef.........

Rice protein would be a good option. I personally use TN's rice protein(40%) and it tastes ok but needs to be heavily flavored.

"Healthy n Fit" makes a great egg protein. They are worth a look.

Thank you for the replies thus far.

My biggest concern is the ability to rule out a possible allergen exposure. Many dairy free, soy free, peanut free etc products are still produced in facilities that process and produce items containing such and potentiate the possibility of an allergen exposure.

Usually it is indicated at the bottom of the ingredients.

Can you stick to meats and eggs/whole foods?

I know of a family that had this problem and for some crazy reason raw goat milk didn't cause any problems. Probably best to stick with whole foods, yes it's more time consuming and often expensive but well worth it. My 3 boys haven't ate anything out of a can or any processed foods in 2 years.

We are able to do beef, chicken, fish, pork, and eggs.

The problem that becomes prevalent is when she gets sick she typically gets a sore throat which eliminates the ability to tolerate meats and fish. Eggs are ok but its a challenge to get her to eat more than one a day so we are looking for an alternative to have available in times where other options are exhausted.

Get a juicer and throw kayle, broccoli, beats, green apples, cucumber, celery, it's kinda odd tasting but it grown on you quick.

I do egg whites + a naked fruit drink for flavor. I ordered True Nutrition's beef protein (not bad) and egg white protein (sweeteners give it a funky after taste). I cannot do dairy either.

Where's the protein..?

Beets 2.2g protein per cup or 136g in weight
Kayle 2.9g protein per cup chopped or 67g in weight
Broccoli 2.6g protein per cup or 91g in weight

I know with Kyle you can juice a 5 gallon bucket full and get a quart of juice so in return that a lot of protein

I've tried the soy protein from true nutrition. It's not to bad. It might be a option for you also

I am diary intolerant.

I switch between beef protein isolate and pea protein for shakes/meal replacement.

Muscleegg would work. Not cheap but lots of flavors so you should be able to find something she likes. Website has lots of recipes too.

I believe Myprotein carries an inexpensive, high quality dairy free protein although dont take my word on that though I may have things mixed up.
