and fuck all if most don't have the same people surfing them - geez... plus a lot of the same mods, same threads, same articles/same info, same bullshit... Sorry to vent, but I just stumbled around looking at 7 or 8 of the lesser traveled boards as a guest to see if I'm missing out (many of these boards had less than 1000 members). The whole time I kept asking myself "why in the hell do these places exist??"

I think there are different levels of boards. It is funny but I have noticed how when I first started out I went to a pay board. Usually the level of knowledge will stop with the level of development. I was on that board for about 6 months and all the info got old. It was, like you said, the same shit being posted over and over again. Then I moved on, to 2 other boards that seemed like a steop, became a mod at one of them and when the new info stopped coming or I got to the point where I was not going to gain any info from people who did not take it as seroiusly as me. So I left and came here, and Chad's board. And that is it for me. I don't think there is anything above these two baords.

I like this board becaue there is pretty much just one large group of guys that contribute instead of like 50,000 people talking about there personal problems. Talking about injuries is fine and can be helpful to post on boards to get more info, but stuff like, oh I had a bad hair day last monday or whatever.

i spend my time there moderating and my time here reading.... and i'll be damned if half the timei am reading at CEM too... couple of my favorite boards.... science plus real life experience...

also sculptedbyiron.com is like a little brotherboard to us but hell they may outgrow us... i just hate when boards compete.... we are allo in his together for the same reasons.... we want to learn to look our best abd be as safe as possible.

Alot of the smaller boards are off-shoots of the larger ones. Every board seems to have it's cliques and that's how the new ones start.

No offense ozzy, but bolex is a joke.

I agree as they tend tend to accept way too much flaming. Same with Elite. Unfortunate, as both these boards have some very reputable vets there. I think it's just one of those things that happen as a board gets to a certain size (accept anyone and anything they say - so they won't want anyone to leave).

'Bolex does have an Aussie Forum that is well participated by those in that part of the world and managed (seems like it).

But for the most part what PB said above is probably the reason the majority of these smaller boards exist - cliques of dudes who like to have a forum where they anoint themselves supreme commander and chief, make the rules and host all the circle-jerks.

That's what I did. That way, no one argues with me or I f ing ban them.

Seriously, I think you are probably correct about the smaller boards but let's not forget that big boards have to start small, first. I think it depends on what you want from your board and as you say, if all you want is a place for disheveled, previously banned guys to hang out and bash everyone else on other boards, the board will lose it's appeal (if it had one to begin with), very quickly and stay small.

I have seen alot of very large boards that I am not all that impressed with. One has been mentioned in this thread and I really like the guys that moderate it so I won't mention it. I just think that this board that I am refering to, and alot of other larger boards lack that "homy" feeling of knowing alot of the regulars.

Hey, this is a great place here at PM. I stop by at least once a day, everyday. I just think there are some good, smaller boards out there, too.
