He was a beast in the gym too. High volume progressive overload with short rest periods. I think I read somewhere he could smash 405 on squats for 5 sets of 12 with 60 seconds rest between sets.

his arms and quads were massive on such a small frame. Ed Kawak was also a great shorter bodybuilder.

One of the most impressive bodybuilders I have ever seen. Super nice man too.
Saw him at Gold's Santa Monica the year the AAU Mr. A was being held there. I was
in town two weeks prior to the contest (I was not a competitor), training at Gold's
and ogling all the monsters that were there, and the gym was full of the. Danny
was there too. First time I saw him he was in the gym, walking towards me between
a few of other huge bodybuilders . . . I think Robbie and Mentzer and Pete but
not sure. Regardless, he was the the most thickly, densely muscled bodybuilder
by a huge margin. Beautifully shaped muscles, great skin and tan. He could have
ruled the world had he been taller. But standing alone, he was just stunning,
jaw dropping and just about unbeatable.

I talked to him on several occasions, short conversations because he was either
heading in or out of the gym (I never talked to bodybuilders when they were working
out) and he was always friendly and had a great sense of humor. Good times back
then.

Did you ever see Arnold working out at Gold's? How about other pros? Wondering if you were able to chat or just say hello to some of them. Meeting Arnold and Franco back then would have been awesome.
