Dave Goodin Suspended 3 years by WNBF

I thought this was pretty ridiculous. He got suspended for 3 YEARS for his appearing in Ironman Magazine.

How do you get suspended by a theoretical organization? I mean have they had any contest?

Dave is an accomplished pro natural lightweight out of Austin, Tx and owns Hyde Park Gym. Its real old school. Unbelievable physique for a little guy whose a natural. **broken link removed**
I know. Its not everyone's thing, but you can't deny his hardwork and dedication to bodybuilding.
Evidently, he knew he would get banned but did it anyway for the additional publicity. Evidently, the WNBF won't allow their athletes to be published in any publications that they don't own. I think its just BS.

I would love to see a bloodtest from him to see if he's really natural. Not just a testosterone test either, LH,FSH and the whole 9, b/c anyone can go off fast acting gear in time for a bloodtest, but you cant fool anyone when you LH and FSH is off.

I won my pro card in the WNBF at the end of April, after reading over the paperwork that was sent and seeing that i had to clear any possible publicity through them beforehand was CRAZY! It's like they don't want their athletes to be seen. Hell, not many people know of this federation anyway. I never sent my paperwork in for that reason.
Oh, and they do polygraph prior to each show and urine test the overall winners after.

Urine tests are good. Unfortuantely they only test for a few things. Polygraph one would think would be best but the one I took was bullshit. I took 3rd back in Aug03 at the pacific USA naturals(lightweight). I truely was natual then. Didnt even use pro-hormones leading up to the show. Just an eca,glutamine,etc... Anyway, the guy wraps the cord around my shirt and put something on my finger. It was such bullshit. When I went to piss, I saw 2 3cc syringes sitting in the trash can along with a few slin pins. Then there were a few 220+lb bb's shredded onstage, on top of guys with abscess scars and lump bi's shoulders,etc.....from spot injections(synthol,suspenison,etc...whatever they used) right before going on stage. Maybe some shows are more strict, but every natual show i've gone to, at least %30 if not more of what I could see were not natural.

I can tell you for a fact that a little time promoter that is barely making any money on a natural show is NOT going to pay additional fees and loose more money to follow thru with those urine tests. I mean come on look around next time.... you see any empty seats? those empty seats are money not in the promoters pocket. I think natural shows are a great way to start in bodybuilding and certainly have a purpose for many people. But we need to be a little realistic here and take them for what they are. Some people compete in them clean most don't. Those polygraphs are a complete joke.
If you compete in them use them for experience....learn and get better and move on.

I will have to tell you I think there many on this site that wouldn't mind having his physique...I am not judging who is natural from who isn't....looks like he can go very far...at 24 or so years of age...if that.
From the my days of training in the UK I can tell you that some of the BB over there are no joke....

Ok i can agree that there are some competitors compete that arent clean, but Most? MOST? c'mon , i dont know about you guys, but spending money on AAS is not exactly a thing a lot of people have room to budget for, and most people dont want to risk going to jail..Now I will admit ive only competed in a handful of natural contests, but I really dont think drug use is a prevalent thing in INBF shows..

Very true, I doubt most promoters actually follow through with the urine tests. It basically comes down to ethics. People shouldn't claim to be natural unless they really are, and yes I used those shows for the experience and I am movin on.

AAS are cheaper than cell teck bro. All I can say is trust me, not that is matters I mean look at the "texas shredder" natural or not that guy is fucking ripped.Skip Lacour natural or not he has shown up looking amazing. Not that I care or judge but don't belive all the bull shit. If you are clean and you compete in these organizations, great and congrats. Some of the people standing next to you don't.

And to all the die hard natual guys or people who think these unnatural physiques are acheivable, I just wanted to say what i've always said. Yes, there are some very good looking people who are natual. Here is the motto i'll always stick by:

You can be BIG and be natual. You can be LEAN and be natural. But you can't be BIG and LEAN and be natual.

I've known Dave for some years and am the guy who wrote the Ironman Magazine article: he's clean, a bona fide natural who champions the drug-free cause. Dave's usually within ten pounds of competition shape. Best fun in doing the article was reading through his training diaries going back to the early 90s - he's in shape because he trains very hard. His stredded condition comes from real strict dieting and at leasts 250 grams of protein daily.

Dave trains some male and female bodybuilders who adhere to his training and dietary principles, resulting in them also looking very good.

What's even more remarkable is that he takes hardly any supplements, maybe a one a day vitamin and some creatine - that's it. But his diet is well balanced, showing how whole foods do the trick as long as one isn't overtraining.

I did a cover story article in the August 2005 issue of Ironman on Dave's mentor from graduate school, Dr. John Ivy, pioneering researcher in the Nutrient Timing approach to maintaining anabolic metabolic states. Learned of John through Dave: he swears by the Nutrient Timing approach, especially how use of it makes contest preparation dieting far easier. John's book, Nutrient Timing, explains the whole method and how to make your own formula (basically gatorade and whey isolate with some leucine).

Thanks Koneill. I'll have to get up to Austin and visit the gym one day. My little bro has trained there some and said Dave always looks ready to step on stage. Plus he's got that really cool arm hanging out of the front of the building. hahaha
I'm also told he's one of the nicest guys in the sport. Tons of people have respect for him here in Texas.
