just curious. who else ran into this.....wiht work being unbelieveably busy, i havent been able to eat right, schedual all messed up cause of everything between thanksgiving and new years. and just exhaused from 14 hr work days i didnt have it in me this month. only got to the gym 2 times a week. finally started a new blast yesterday and funny thing is i beat the log book from the end of my last blast.....maybe my body needed that kind of rest.

really????

man i feel just the opposite

winter time calls my name to train hard and heavy

its not that its winter, its just that in the restaurant business its the busiest time of year...well in my area it is. mostly that fact that i couldnt get any food out of the kitchen most of the time nor did i have time to eat if i could. you never want to ask 4 angry guys with sharp knives to feed you when they have 60 food tickets in the window...lol...and my schedual was all out of whack. never knew when id get a day off or what hours id work...just kinda be there when you need to be there. most days it was at least 12 hr+ days getting to bed sometime near 4 or 5 am then being back at work by 11 am.

Dont get all worried about it bro. Instead of mentally stressing about it (Mental stress is horrible on you and your body) embrace it. Approach it as a welcome break and a time to recharge your mind, body and sole. You can take some free time and think about your diet, routine, and approach. Just relax and get through the hectic times and hit it hard when things come back to normal.

I don't have a problem with training in the winter. The holiday season with family, work, and those types of demands really cut into my training time. At this time of the year I have to decide to train sporadically or take the time off. This year I trained sporadically, so I wouldn't fall into a rut. Looking forward getting through tomorrow and back on track.

I hear ya bro!

Yea man, I hear ya on the resturant thing. I played the resturant game for many years (actually just opened my own catering buisness). When I finally get around to post some pics, you'll see that the right side of my body is slightly bigger than my left, from carrying tray's for ten years. It can be hard to maintain a good diet, or eat at all, and after working the floor for 6-8 hours, you don't alway's want to go to the gym. Now that I work for myself, I truly enjoy my winter bulker again:)

I understand what you are saying tkav. Sometimes you just have to "roll with it". My job gets very intense and stressful at times too. I have used times like that to either cut back on my training temporarily and use it as a "rest" period or try some new shorter, more intense training sessions. I have actually discovered some good changes in my workouts by these constraints put on me. Necessity is the mother of invention sometimes?

No issues with training, however diet; well that's another story.

Christmas is always a good time for me to do a week or two of rehab before I switch to diet season. My tendons are usually achy and I've done my PR's for the season.

I've had the foam roller and the tennis ball out all week. Stretching, walking on the treadmill and working on all my nice new adhesions in my wrist, forearm, shoulders and it bands.

IT Bands are the new ache in my collection. I finally squatted 405 this season and had to learn some new stretches and buy a foam roller.

I started the month with a scheduled two weeks off. Then, due to a lack of foresight, finals week started right when I was due to start working out so I didn't work out the third week of December either. Then, I went on vacation. I've worked out 3 times this month. That's the least I've worked out since I started training over a decade ago. I'll tell you what, now that I'm older (31), I hold onto muscle so much better than I used to.

I tend to slack on October/November because they feel like the farthest points of time away from having to be in shape for competition or vanity.

From a competitive stand point, I keep thinking "Now is where a show is won." I start to crank things up in Dec/Jan so that the spring and summer will show improvements.
