What's up everyone? Long time lurker here. My wife, who will be 41 in March, just recently found out via X-rays that she has arthritis and DDD. She doesn't really have back pain so hopefully this got caught fairly early. We will be seeing a specialist Feb 14th. of all days, lol, so should know a lot more then. Was considering buying one of those Teeter Hang-Ups on my idea, seems like it would really help. Anyways, just wondering if anyone else deals with this and how you are doing so?

What kind of arthritis, and where?

DDD is a diagnosis everyone can have. Just means decreased IVD height.

Not sure on the arthritis. They x-rayed her back because she had bad lower back pain...which turned out to be a UTI. I'm assuming they seen the arthritis in her spine. Seems a lot of people could be diagnosed with DDD though. She works in a DD facility, so they assist those people all day long. It is taking a toll I guess.

When a radiologist is doing x-ray read offs they have to report everything because of liability reasons. Having a DDD doesn't mean much, generally, it's the severity of it that means the most. They're held liable for what they can spot on film.

I have had DDD since i was 15(got my spine crushed playing football) It has been with me ever since. Out of everything i have tried the thing that has kept it the most in check is doing banded hyper extensions how John Meadows dose them, and the help of a good chiro from time to time. About once a month or so it really flairs up and a nerve gets caught and i am in pretty immense pain, that's when the chiro and the hypers really really come in handy for getting me back in check.

Everyone has DDD. Its againg. Same with arthritis. Why are you going to a doc if she doenst have pain?

The hyperextentions cause an action called imbibition. Banded or bodyweight, you're causing the pumping action pushing in nutrients and pushing out waste.

how do you know/see that DDD on an x-ray?? aren't you supposed to see that on MRI? I had x-ray recently and doctor said nothing, but I do have back pain so must be properly messed or somethign? I do sound and confess I am not knowledgable in this subject but I am slightly clued up (not something I liked to read ever but.. and I am 35

I know he said there wasn't any pain but then he said there was some back pain which turned out to be a UTI.

I do agree though...if there isn't any back pain now, there's nothing for them to do. If she's already athletic, then she needs to keep going.

I was told I have DDD in 2009. Since then I've won a national championship in strongman, broke american records in powerlifting, and competed internationally. It hasn't slowed me down yet, but I'm proactive with mobility work and therapy.

As for going to the specialist, it was a reccomendation and referral on the part of the ER physician, I'm assuming. She had bad lower back pain, went to ER, did X-rays, blood and urine. Came back as a UTI. Said X-rays ok. Sent home with antibiotics. 2 days later they called and told her the radiologist mentioned the arthritis and DDD. But she doesn't mention any chronic pain so it must be pretty early.

Bio...she is not athletic at all. Overweight, and I have tried for years to convince her to change things up. After they called her she said she needed life choice changes...so hopefully it's time.

Thanks for the feedback guys.
