I want to cut and carve up my legs, but want to do so with out hurting my lower back. My back is not terrible by any means, but scared of dead lifts and to much weight on squats. I do squat some and do leg presses. my back gets tight, but no pain. I always try to stay in perfect form , but want to know which excercises i should stay away from. I was told clings and dead lifts is a no no for me.

I do high reps on exercises (plate driven machines) that put absolutely no pressure on the lower back. My lower back is toast and it will go out just thinking about squats.

I'm not sure I understand

Do you already have back issues? Or are you just worried that you might develop them?

If you have back issues, then you had better listen to your physical therapist or doc. Certainly, Dudeface's advice reflects a cautious approach.

If you are just worried about developing back issues from squats and dead lifts, then you should probably not worry but just concentrate (as always) on good form with reasonable weights.

If you start having pain, that's a sign you need to change. Some "tightness" is normal ... for me at least.

already have some lower back issues but i need to stengthen those muscles

I feel your pain bro. Try some lower back extension. Reinforce your abs too. It will help...well it helped me
