I will already be at the gym and won't have time to go back home eat oatmeal and go back to lift. Figuring it would get nutrients in my muscles instantly and spare muscle
Nothing WRONG persay with dextrose, however, it is void of any nutritional value other than the fact that it is a carbohydrate. It does have its place, but I don't feel it's the best option during a dieting phase when calories are restricted. I use it now, but only because I take in 650 grams of carbs atm lol.
honestly I don't really like oats pre. Too much fiber and it bloats me and makes me feel super full and sluggish during my workout. nothing wrong with using dextrose pre/intra. or if you want to do whole food pre....I prefer cream of rice
i do oats pre and post and hbcd intra. you can just put the oats in your shake and if its to much to chew them or swallow them whole you can always blend up your container of oats so its just like any other powder in the shaker.
I use fruit bars pre workout and a carb powder (dextrose or malto) intra. Works great for me.
Some people get stomach issues with dextrose but if you can handle it go for it. It is also really cheap.
I'm currently trying a lean bulk as well. I do only 10-15 minutes of HIT. I do it to warm up and in a fasted state as I train around 4:00 am. So maybe semi-fasted depending on how late my last meal was the night before.
I then mix up an intra-workout shake of 10-15 grams of EAA's with about 45 grams of HBCD and sip on it during my weight training. Then I have a postworkout shake or meal with slower acting carbs. I like sweet potato powder if I'm having a shake.
The small amounts of cardio are just to warm up....and I find that it stimulates my appetite the rest of the day.
Because I can't physically handle much food for more than a few weeks.
I'm my best when I'm eating minimal carbs from food and replacing them with liquid short acting carbs.
And ive replaced a lot of my protein with EAA.
