For those of you that have Diabetes, Does fasted cardio give you a higher or lower reading then normal when checking your blood sugar?

The reason I ask is this morning after fasted cardio I check my sugar levels and had a reading of 98. I waited 10 minutes took it again and it had dropped to 90.

when I was doing fasted cardio. Say I woke up and sugar was 80. It would stay around 80, within a few points the whole time. And my sugars during the rest of the day were great.

But if I did cardio later in the day, my sugar would plumet, weird.

Is ur cardio fasted in the AM? There is something called the Dawn Phenomina, where sugars go high when waking. Cortisol is high at this time, and cortisol and insulin do not work well together, so sugars rise and insulin seems unresponsive
 
yes, morning cardios purpose is to take advantage of the low blood sugar of being fasted. there are many theories if this is a good thing or bad thing if you arent diabetic.

if you are taking metformin and glipizide, i would workout before you take them.

I am Type I Diabetic.Sometimes Cardio lowers my BG,sometimes it raises it ! It is very frustrating.As a BB....I eat,train,sleep....basically do everything,at the same time day in day out,but i still have to adjust my Insulin dosages.My insulin sensitivity changes all the time ! I struggle most with my fasting level.....
 
i am a type 1 diabetic. you can check your sugar 5 times in a row and will never get the same reading. it can be 110 then seconds later 95. its the machine and test strips. not 100 percent accurate
 
it also depends on the insulin. my insulin is 75/25. 75 fast acting and 25 long lasting. i also adjust my insulin all the time. if i'm at work and we are doing a very hard physical job i will take 15 less units than usual because my sugar drops from the physical work. i have had a seizure before from low blood sugar, very scary.
 
i have to eat something or drink a gatoade after. mine will be 75 sometimes so i really make sure i have my shake atleast. but im only type 2 and havent been on meds for 3 years. i feel for you guys that are type 1.

but to you question always lower cardio or just lifting.
