Different tricep pushdown handles work different heads of the tricep?

Can you guys tell me what head of the triceps (long head, lateral Head, or medial head) each type of pushdown mostly hits:

1. Straight bar pushdowns
2. Rope pushdowns
3. Underhand pushdowns

Thanks fellas.

reverse grip ext hits the long head great enough to say it targets that area .Basically the other 2 hit similar areas if performed on the standard way.

Yes rev grip triceps pushdowns/pulldowns will hit the long head very hard. Straight bar tends to favor the medial head or horseshoe and rope will hit the three pretty effectively but still stress the outer head or horseshoe. I will sometimes start with the rev grip and go on to some lying extensions or seated dumbell extensions. Then maybe some dips for tris then finish off with heavy straight bar pushdowns. Seem to be hitting all the right areas of the tris.

I start with heavy strait bar push downs then move to close grip or reverse grip bench press , I think that these two are awsome mass builders (especialy since I can't do skull crishers) and after this I go to reverse grip single arm pull down then finish with the rope using high reps but very slow controled movement making sure to role the rist from the neutral to the pronated position for the squeeze. at the bottom , this gives awsome pumps that hurt.
I susper set a bi movement with a tri movement so their is a little break between sets of tris.

Hey bro hows that shoulder comming along?

try...

if u want to work the inner head or long head of the triceps try doing all tricep movements with any bar with ur elbows closer to your body. If u want to get more of the lateral or outer head of ur tri in the movement try flaring your elbows out away from your body. Ive also noticed doing reverse grip movements takes the tension completely off my elbow and keeps it in the tricep and and outer head of the tricep.

gooey
