I fabricated up a DIY version of the Bulldog for my home gym. Saved about a lil more then half the cost of purchasing one from Sorinex. If anyone is interested in replicating it I’ll give ya my materials list.

Since it wasn’t just 90° angles I had to free hand it out first to get a starting point. I used Sorinex’s website to get rough measurements then went from there.

4’ - 3/8” x 4” steel flat bar
4’ - 3/8” x 2.5” steel flat bar
1 - bench pad (CFF Strength Equipment)
- stick welded with 3/32” 6013 rods

$400 for Sorinex’s attachment

I finished mine at $160.

Still gotta blast it, etch it, then I’m gonna use a truck bed style coating.

Ended up using UPol Raptor truck bed liner to spray this attachment. Puts on a nice rough protective layer. I’ll see how well it holds up gets bumped around in the gym.

Since this was sand blasted down to bright white finish it needed to be acid etched first. Used Upol #8 acid etching spray.

Before spraying the truck bed liner I heated up a medium bowl of water in the microwave. Then stuck the liquid liner into the water for abt 20 minutes. With the coating being heated it helps it flow better in the gun. Sprayed nice and evenly.

If anyone is in the market for a DIY spray bed liner then this product would work great. Just need to prep the product properly prior to applying the coating.

Also made some hitch pins; used 5/8” solid bar, 1/4” solid bar, and 1” solid bar. Just want to coat the handles of the hitch pins with some red plasti dip and those will be done. I used a tubing bender to get the handle grip shape.

Easy lil project for others if interested for their own setups.

Nice work here again!
Thank you sir! I know @Mufusa123 has some custom fabricated equipment, does anyone else do this to save a few coins?

I build all kinds of stuff to save a buck, built these custom wagon wheels for a buddy, I'm currently working on dummbell spotter arms for my squat rack.View attachment 167666
Yeah, MaxMuscle right? He had posted them up in a home gym thread. Solid build for sure!! I wish I had regular access to a CNC machine. I recently purchased a plasma cutter with a CNC port, but that setup is a few coins and I can’t justify that!

@Standfast, check out DB spotters. Might be a better build. I bought mine, but maybe you could duplicate em.

Yeah I built me a basic set after his, cutting everything on a waterjet makes it very precise. I'm always building something and most times I over engineer them causing them to be quite robust.
I'm working on scaling out a pit shark in CAD with some minor changes and if all goes well I'll start that build after the 1st.

Make sure you post up pictures throughout if you don’t mind! I enjoy making my pieces/attachments etc. I’m not a certified welder, but I do enjoy welding.

For what these companies charge nowadays for there equipment it’s very cost effective to make your own if you have the equipment!

Here some other quick easy projects for anyone. One is a dumbbell shrug stand. Makes it easy on the knees picking up 200lb+ dumbbells from the ground. Made for the CAP brand Olympic dumbbells.

Anutha is a folding wall mount dip station.

An shelf for hanging cable attachments…

Here’s when I first did it. Then I had to redo it cause I painted the garage a different color.

The image was from a website called ChemicallyEngineered.com from back in the early 2000’s. I free handed it on the wall looking at a picture of it on my phone.

A pit shark will have a decent sized footprint. You have the room? My space is damn near filled so my builds NEED to be built with space saving in mind!

Its gonna take some rearranging but I think I'll get it fit in.

Think I’ve rearranged mine abt a dozen times. My next move will be using some ceiling space for attachments. Dunno if I’ll be successful or not though.

My next move will be converting my 30x40 shop, things are getting tight. Ha!

I’m f’n jealous!!! That’s gonna be the size of my gym & shop whenever I’m able to move and stop with the child support!!!!!

I want two metal buildings 30x40 for both. Sheet out & insulate the inside of one for the gym, and the other would just be the skeletal walls of the building. I’m headed for country living son!!!!! I can’t wait!!!!

Cage

I made the move to the country 20 years ago and I have zero regrets. That NO west bank was going down hill rather quickly.
