Yea imagine if more people stayed withing the doctor recommended BMI, got the doctor recommended amount of exercise, ate the doctor recommended 2000cals following the food groups laid out in the food pyramid, we would have even more sick, overweight people. docs are so dumb recommending that stuff :rolleyes:

Did you happen to notice that they actually changed the food pyramid a few years back? Weird. Apparently.....it was making people obese. Turns out doctors don't know all and some just follow what they hear. Dairy had a big chunk of the food pyramid and it turns out the dairy association was subsidizing this. Definitely don't blindly listen to doctors

problem is that no one follows it, if the general population actually followed the food pyramid we would have a much healthier population. One component of a successful diet plan is how likely people will adhere, diet adherence.

I was not able to find the revision of the pyramid that you mentioned but they did introduce a "food plate" because one of the main complaints is the the pyramid is "too hard to understand". General population is pretty dumb when it comes to nutrition and looks for doctors to prescribe them medication after not following the doctors' diet and exercise recommendations

Goal I get exactly where your coming from. I also agree the general public does need to take responsibility and stop being so lazy(and stupid) but I also agree that unless theres a specialist a lot of Dr don't know shit! I've been on trt for 10yrs and my Dr still tries to refuse that I need to test my estrogen. She always ask " why would you need to" so personally I feel Dr definitely have there place and I listen to what they recommend. BUT I also do my own research!

It is not based on scientific evidence, only on economics.
 
lol the problem with the food plate down south is "vegetables" is corn and potatoes, "protein" is red meat, and dairy is enough butter to make anything taste good lol
 
25 years ago, my dad had a heart attack. His lifestyle was a trainwreck. Fast food, smoking 3+ packs a day, overweight, drinking, and apparently some rec drugs here and there.

He survived. He immediately quit smoking, started exercising, and adopted the dietary wisdom that prevailed at the time: high carb, low fat, of course. I remember us sitting down to glorious dinners of pasta with little to no protein and certainly no fat. Margarine was in. Eggs were out.

Pretty shitty, eh? Look at how freakin long it has taken for the public to BARELY start to recognize "hey, maybe this is wrong."

Meat, Dairy, veggies, and whole grains if you get the right crust!

I'm sure a slice of pizza with lots of vegetables could count for a serving of vegetables.

The major problem isn't that their recommendations are bad or wrong, it's that no one follows them.
