Do any of you ever train while you are sick?

I know that you are supposed to give your body time to rest and heal yadda yadda yadda, but I often grow impatient with waiting and just go anyway. It sucks because I will sometimes not be able to breathe due to a buildup of shit in my lungs, but I can't wait forever to get better!

Usually I give myself a few days to feel better and if I am not back up to 100% by the 4th day I will go regardless.

What do you guys do?

What I've read is that if you're sick from the neck up, working out is fine. If you're sick from the neck down, you should wait until you're better so you don't make yourself sicker.

I usually just stay home and rest up. Especially if my body is achy and flu syptoms then def stay home, but headeache or something in that nature, I train. Just gotta listen to your body

Cool, thanks for the advice.

So far I just have a sore throat, so off to the gym I go!

I do all the time. I am friggin' sick right now and I am still training heavy. It may prolong my Cold, but I try to stay clean, and not infect others. Most people I know almost need any excuse to not go to the gym.....

depends on how sick i am..sometimes i like training wheni have a lil fever going..i dont' train when i have severe throat pain or when i'm coughing like crazy..other than that its' all a go

I've been sick now for the last two weeks. Can't shake this damn cold of mine. I haven't gone to the gym with all the body aches and being so congested. Its breaking up but I'm blowing my nose every minute now. I had to put off starting my cycle. Hopefully next week I'll be back. They got this new stuff with ephedrine hcl and the expectorant guaf... in it I'm gonna try.

I fucking hate that shit. I love to just sit and stare at these people look at the ground and stumble around different excuses while I'm looking right at them in the eyes. I feel like they are in need of some loving from the back of my hand.

Training through some sickness makes me feel better. Try and get on a teadmill and let it rip and see how ya feel. Push that shit right out and follw it up with a Hot Totty lol

Oh ok now I understand I always thought you were looking for a date, now I understand what is happening. :D

I got my flue on December 21 had it till Jan 13 and my lungs were filling up, my head felt like someone had hit me with a baseball bat and my nose was running constantly. I went to the doc and got a 7 day supply of antibiotics and caugh meds with codien. Kicked that shit right out. Started my cycle on Monday, today I am feeling better than 100%.

When I was sick I did go lift. The only way I could get any kind of a workout was taking a couple Thermoblast with effedra that I have left. Without It I couldnt hardly breath from being so clogged up. My suggestion is if ya feel that bad go get some antibiotics and get over it.

I do agree with what fatchops said "Just gotta listen to your body"

bein sick just sucks, but that dont stop me from training, ill just take it a lil bit easier..ill feel like crap but when i get home from the gym i actually feel a little bit better and not soo lazy feeling than if i didnt go. i stay away from my training partners so they dont get sick and if im injured in one area ill stretch and train another bodypart

Colds will take 2 weeks to fully recover from usually. I just take it easy. If its just a head cold there is no reason to hold back.

That does seem a bit ambiguous now that I look back at the wording that I used. lol :p

I went tonight and actually made gains in all of my chest excercises. What's starting out as a sore throat had better not get worse, otherwise it will be in for a rough ride at the gym. :)

Sounds like I've got something similar to you. I would try and work through but my breathing got so heavy I thought I was going to pass out. I ended up getting a 7-day bottle of antibiotics from the doc and am into day 4. Still not much improvement :(

Training while you are sick is the dumbest shit you can do.
After you train, before your body grows the muscles, it first has to recover from the workout.
When you are sick, it's trying to recover from the sickness. It couldn't care less about recovering from training and especially trying to build muscle. All the body's resources are put towards getting over the sickness.
If you train when you are sick, not only that you won't build any muscle, you are prolonging your sickness, which means it will take even longer by the time the body will finally be ready to grow some muscle.
Use some intelligence people!

i think we all know whats going on when you sick, its just what i have in me or some guys does, you just dont want to feel sick, this is what i ment to say.

Noone ever accused me of having common sense, but I always train when I get sick. I never get very sick, just little annoying stuff. Once every 5-10yrs I get really sick (bed ridden) and then there is no way I can train.

This had always been my understanding before, but sometimes I just get stubborn and impatient so I keep lifting. :(
