Agreed 100% with @buck Oatmeal carries a variety of vitamins and nutrients as well as being a gut microbiome, helps lower cholesterol, has a ton of anti oxes, aides with blood glucose, and has some ant inflammatory benefits. I personally love overnight nights....much preferred over cooked oats. I typically have a 50/50 mix of old fashioned and steel cut. I add a scoop or two of whey along with strawberries or blueberries and its deeeeeelightful. Not talking fatty cereals. The ones that have fat content below like 2g per 100g. Or would you consider it processed foods that should only be eaten on occasion and should stick to your rice and potatoes daily?
This.If we are talking oatmeal then yes. If it is something from a cardboard box then no. Unless you just want calories and don't care about nutrition.
When do you add the whey? Wondering because I’ve read whey protein becomes denatured 3hours after mixing with water. It’s one reason I quit mixing protein shake concoctions in advance.Agreed 100% with @buck Oatmeal carries a variety of vitamins and nutrients as well as being a gut microbiome, helps lower cholesterol, has a ton of anti oxes, aides with blood glucose, and has some ant inflammatory benefits. I have never seen any decent study that shows that. I have been premixing mine for decades. When do you add the whey? Wondering because I’ve read whey protein becomes denatured 3hours after mixing with water. It’s one reason I quit mixing protein shake concoctions in advance.
We all have our own comfort zone of how much processed crap is allowed.I seen someone mention chex which has 1 gram of fat a serving. Low in sugar etc.
Help me out buck if you got any advice for me. I’m always open to advice. I just hate oatmeal or dont use enough waterI have never seen any decent study that shows that. I have been premixing mine for decades.

If that is what you want to eat then eat it. We all have to figure out what we are willing to do. For example i would probably go with oatmeal and fruit for a carb source. Seems to have far more nutrition more flavonoid phytochemicals for one thing. Vitamins and minerals are only some nutrients from food. I typically had a veggie omelet 6+ days a week of some sort for decades And some fruit or maybe oatmeal or whole grain bread. I tend to think once something is ground up it is no longer whole and the digestion is different/quicker. I always looked very long term with what i did and planned accordingly.Help me out buck if you got any advice for me. I’m always open to advice. I just hate oatmeal or dont use enough water
I think I saw bberextreme reference Rice Chex as a better choice to reach for when carb load/slin use. So will reach for it when needing to add carbs.
I love fruit! Nectars of god! Specially during the summer, helps me stay cool. Only thing I never really tracked grams of carbs from fruit cus I never felt it was that much of carbs adding in a bowl of strawberries, raspberries, oranges. Point being idk if I could rely on fruit to reach 500-700 grams of carbs. Then again I’ve never paid much attention to fruits macros etc. Veggie omelette sounds ideal for getting veggies in easier. If that is what you want to eat then eat it. I often ate what would get me to where i wanted to be and not what i liked the best.
Look at dried fruit is you want more carbs from a nutritious source.I love fruit! Nectars of god! Specially during the summer, helps me stay cool. Fruit is no different than any food, I would absolutely track those calories.I love fruit! Nectars of god! Specially during the summer, helps me stay cool. cream of wheat with honey and fruit when I'm pushing carbs on wo daysIf I do its raisin brand or Rice Krispies but only if I’m pushing carbs really high. Otherwise I stick to cream of wheat or cream of rice.
I make 'Overnight Oats'. Not sure if you know but its done by adding water(or milk) to the oats and then you stick in the fridge overnight. It really doesn't need to be that long but this is how it got its name. I then add the whey and fruit in the morning....mix....and eat. When do you add the whey?
