Do you still have a dedicated shoulder day?

With push/pull/legs being the trend these days, do you still have a seperate shoulder day?

I personally notice that a lot of people are lagging big shoulders nowadays, maybe because a shoulder day isn't as popular?

I personally love one and notice my shoulders grow much better when doing one.

Lately, with much success, I've been doing the following
Main side delt work on chest day
Rear delts on back day
Get a massive pump with side laterals on arm day

One of my best body parts is shoulders(genetics I assume)and I've always done them with a Chest Shoulder Tricep routine. Built them doing LOTS of heavy to barbell, dumbbell presses. I was trying to make a big physique push a few years back and started dedicating a day just for shoulders and it ended up being a mistake. I just wasn't recovering well or making new progress and actually injured my right shoulder which I'd never done before. I had a hard time doing shoulder presses after that without it being uncomfortable, which sucked because I loved doing them and pushing big weight. I went back to doing shoulders with Chest and Tris and just doing upright rows, side and rear laterals and I think my shoulders look better than ever before and I'm a really hard critic on myself. I walked past a mirror in my garage just last night with no shirt on and was like 'wow..not bad'.
You could try a single shoulder day for awhile and see how it works for you, sometimes that's sparks som growth and development but ultimately single sessions of anything end up being too much for me after awhile. I noticed over the years I grow best when I work my body more as a whole than separating everything out.

I had a shoulder day for years once i went past a PPL split. Then dropped it as my shoulders were getting way to beat from being worked at least 3-4 days a week from back, chest, shoulders and the wear and tear from arms and sitting hundreds of pounds on them on leg day.

I train legs/push/pull too,

I’ll still add like 2 sets of shoulder press after chest, then spam laterals for 6-9 sets. Rear delts on back day. Works for me

I’ve tried splitting out a seperate shoulder day but I just find my rotator cuff has issues and strain doing pressing movements eod or so.

Currently doing some lateral shoulder work with chest, then some upper chest on a shoulder day (just FYI). It’s different as I always had a dedicated shoulder day, but I think this is working, but shoulders are not my opportunity. If shoulders are an opportunity, I have had success with their own day, short rest periods and lots of volume. Many folks damage their shoulders prioritizing weight and presses over volume.

Shoulder work on Chest days
Shoulder work on Arm days as well.

Shoulders can take a shit load of volume but id rather split it up

I've done it all. I actually like how they look lately dc 2 way split 2 oh press variants and db upright rows. My shoulders don't miss lateral raises.

Could the trend to focus on lateral raises be foolish and the old school method of heavy pressing for big delts be better for overall round shoulders? Not a statement but a question....

I will say...all this cuffed lateral raises at a 45.99 degree angle in the lengthened position imo is bullshit. I don't feel any pump when I do them that way but sure as heck do when I do upright rows or basic db lateral raises like John does. Yes the pump doesn't mean growth is garunteed but I think for a muscle like side delts an exercise that quickly gives a great pump is better than one that doesn't in general...considering side raises are not an exercise we can reliably make regular progress on (weight or reps). I do like the lateral machines.

Most of the pros I see have shoulders full of oil and there shoulders are far more developed than their chest.
I do a lot of shoulder volume over 20 working sets to failure per week but my shoulders recover very quickly. I don’t currently have a dedicated shoulder only day.

most vets know, elbows and shoulders are the first to go. some years back i kinda stopped doing anything overhead.
and stopped bending the elbows so much and started to concentrate more on static movements.

BUT........back in the day (and my delts were among my best body parts) i did NOT have a shoulder day.
i dont know why, maybe because i had other body parts that needed more work. i would normally do an arms
and shoulder day, but i constantly changed routines.....like monthly.....was there days where i went in and just
crushed delts....YES. but i train very instinctively. routine is a bore.

we must adapt to survive.

Never had a dedicated shoulder day. Sometimes pairs with legs when doing chest back arms / shoulders legs. I did this because my shoulders never seem to get overtrained... actually of all my muscle groups shoulders never get sore and seem to always be able to take more.

Currently I like to train them with chest and back, and maybe do 3 sets of laterals or upright rows on alternate days.

My shoulders were the first thing that grew when I first started out. I was doing a fulll shoulder day with heavy military or BTN press, sloppy laterals, etc. They just grew to them point I needed work on lagging other parts. I’m currently doing the PPL split and just doing some lateral raises on push day and rear delts on pull day. I going for more volume with relatively higher reps bc they feel too beat up trying to go heavy at my age.

When I was younger I would do shoulders and then triceps to follow. I was driven to press as much overhead as I could and progress at all cost. Doing shoulders fresh achieved that. Nowadays my shoulders take so long to warm up and feel ok that I find doing chest first helps to lubricate them and also knocks down the total weight I can lift as they’re somewhat pre exhausted, which is definitely a good thing for aging joints with a lot of mileage on them

Yea I do one body part per day, dedicated shoulder day but I do do traps with it.

Just switched from-
Chest/Shoulders
Back
Arms
Legs

To

Chest triceps
Back
Shoulders biceps
Legs

This is my 2 favorites i run all the time, but i like more the chest/shoulder, back, arms, legs 2on1off, its much better for my recovery if i pair chest/shoulders...

i do same , push pull legs repeat, i did a sep delt day, better recover this way for me.

When I do upper lower I have a chest dominant day then a delt dominant day. Dumbell press and smith machine upright rows are still my favourites

Always! I always bombed delts on the own day, and I hit rear delts 3 times a week as a warmup to my other workouts. Most guys have great front delts from benching but no rear delts. It looks terrible on stage!
