Does Adex lose effectiveness??

Does adex lose effectiveness overtime? I was reading some stuff on a health board and an older man said he asked his doc to prescribe adex for his increase E2 levels that happen with being older, she told him that adex is not a long term treatment b/c it quickly loses its efficiency....

I then went to search the web for studies and it looks like most women take adex for 5 years, so what gives??? IS she just plain wrong then???
