I realize that incline dumbbell bench press works your upper pecs mostly, but does it also hit your lower pecs at all?

Same question for flat dumbbell bench press. I realize that flat dumbbell bench press works your lower pecs mostly, but does it also hit your upper pecs at all?

In my case, Yes for both questions. Be it incline, flat, or decline, My entire pec area is sore if I went hard enough.

Yes, as you have only one set of pectoral muscles, you will stimulate them with declines.

Take a look at Shelby post about dorian Yates their a vid were he explains very well about working your pec muscle.

I think it depends a lot on shoulder position. If you let the shoulders lift up toward your ears, bring the elbows out more, and bring the bar down closer to your upper chest, you might increase the stress on the lower chest fibers. You also place yourself at greater risk of injury. If you keep the shoulders pulled down toward the waist and back, and bring the bar down to your lower chest, you will engage the entire pectoral properly, likely even working upper chest as much as lower chest.

Yes I think it hits the entire chest but maybe not as hard as a decline press would.

From what i understand its all or nothing type of thing. Your pec is one muscle(well 2 technically major and minor) and every fiber contracts to flex it. It works all but not as much lower as upper.

you cant recruit part of your chest muscle. so yes it hits the lower part as well.
