i have added niacin to my regime based on the advice here.

i must admit im not normally one that notices side effects however i can really feel the flushing about an hour or so after consumption. skin feels itchy especially around my neck etc.

does this settle over time as i have only been using it about a week.

i am assuming the pro's outweigh the cons on this supp

For me it has calmed down a little, but not a lot. I started taking it about 3 months ago. There is a couple things you can do that would help. One - take Slo-Niacin which is time released. Two - buy tablets and use a pill splitter, then take half now and the other half an hour later. By doing either one of these methods you'll get a little flushing but barely noticeable, at least for me it works that way.

I take 500mg niacin twice per day. I used to flush my ass of for a good 30 minutes but I rarely flush at all any more... Honestly, I kinda miss it. LOL. Sometimes if I take it on empty stomach, I flush a little but nothing like I used to.

I have found that the flushing is worse if you are a bit underhydrated. I have actually been able to make a bad flush go away by drinking lots of water after it started.

I'm lucky enough to have never got flushing from Niacin. It is possible to take and not flush, so yes give it a chance to go away, it just might. I don't have to do anything to prepare for my dose. Food, no food, hydration, doesn't matter. I take 500mg once in the evening.

I agree - hydration make all the difference for me. I've been on Niaspan for close to a year and rarely get the flusing anymore, but everytime I do it seems to be related to being dehydrated

yep. taking the baby aspirin, dont take an adult, helps too. I know that I almost always have some flushing if I drink alcohol around the same time I take my niaspan. I think again there its the dehydration since alcohol draws out the water.
