How does whey protein effect kidney function?

For me personally, I can tell you that since ive cut my whey isolate intake in half my creatinine levels have never been out of range. Previous when I used a lot of whey my creatine was chronically elevated.

Were you usin a a lot of whey?

I was on 3 shakes a day at 60g per shake and my creatinine level was at 1.15
Protein didnt effect me much.

too much of any form of protein CAN put strain on the kidneys. drink your water, and dont eat 1000g of protein a day and you should be just fine ;)

should your protien intake be 2x your body weight? 1000g??? WTF

Whether it is whey or another type of protein shouldn't make much difference. When you have excess protein there exists the potential to stress the kidneys.

And BTW, it should be "affect" not "effect" in your title...

this is absolutely correct

also you should be a responsible user and get your blood panel done - this would include your kidney function

Had panel done and on 300 grams protein daily 180 from whey my creatine was 1.35 .02 out of range.Dropped whey and keep protein from food to 250.redone bloods and creatine was 1.21 12 points under upper range and bun dropped from 31 to 16.Was wondering if anyone else had this experience.

I had to go in the hospital for acute renal failure, and every since then I have cut my whey protein and creatine back and it has really helped. the kidneys are nothing to play around with.

100 -150 grams of protein is all you need. Eat more healthy fats.

There is nothing special about whey compared to other sources of protein. A protein intake up to 1.5g/lb has been proven safe in healthy individuals.

But different proteins dump different amounts of waste in the blood (urea). Why do you guys drink all that whey anyway? Are you not hungry enough to get your protein intake from whole foods or is it convenience?

So is slower digesting protein better?

Any concrete evidence?
This is sounding like a bro-science clusterfuck. too many different opinions.

so is the solution to go for an EAA+BCAA blend (even better than HumaPro or whtv name it was), remember think it was Milos(or smone else) saying that these are what you need and do not bother with other aminos in whey being obsolete or something

whey is not something I wanna throw from my diet/supps menu really. it has its place but like anything you should not overdo

ya right?!!
so in 100gms of meat you have approximately same amount as in regular scoop of whey

fat/calories?

and btw does the amino profile gets anywhere near the meat

The reason I have been told is whey digests in 45 minutes or less.much much quicker than regular meats and protein.
