Donating blood while on cycle

The lady who took my blood said people with too high iron count actually pay the facility to draw and toss their blood.

As mentioned in my post you quoted: "If you have a medical condition that is a requirement for you to do therapeutic phelbotomies. Absolutely they'll do this. Otherwise you can't request this.".

That would be do to a scripted therapeutic phlebotomy from one's physician. If it's high iron, that's hemochro matosis.

You can also have a scripted therapeutic phlebotomy for polycythemia.

Or any other blood disorder that's been scripted. In most cases, yes the individual has to pay out of pocket.

Blood centers aren't facilitated to check for iron or other hematological blood disorders for prescreening.

any possible legal issues donating "aas-infused" blood at red cross centers?
i would assume nobody's been in trouble for it (cause they probably dont test for roids), but just making sure... Would like to donate soon

THIS IS THE REASON FOR THE FINGER POKE...sorry for caps.
if the iron is too high they will deny you. then you have to get a script from your doc to give blood.

Hemoglobin, not iron. ...we went over this with your thread.

They do not check your iron with a finger poke.

Read a 16 on the finger poke. Lady said it was iron lvls.

She told you wrong. If your iron was 16micrograms/dL, you'd be severely iron deficient. Considering the normal adult males ranges are: 75-175 micrograms/dL

Read this thread. I explained it and broke it down in a language everyone can easily understand.

In the event, you choose not to read the thread. Here's a link that that states the Red Cross doesn't check your iron levels.

The Red Cross and most major blood banks do not check iron levels.

That would have to be done by centrifugation by separation of the fractions of blood. They use a finger prick method to analyse hemoglobin or hematocrit.

Iron Information for All Blood Donors | American Red Cross
Does the Red Cross measure my iron level before donation?
No. The American Red Cross does not measure iron levels before blood donation. You can have a normal hemoglobin level and be accepted for blood donation, but still have a low iron level.

I really encourage you and everyone else that erroneously terms iron as hemoglobin, you'll get the gist of why they are not interchangeable terms.

sorry, your right. we did. it even says "hemoglobin" on the sheet. i dont know why i keep reverting.

Sorry to rehash but I'd like to find out how to guess blood n a regular bases.
Don't think I'm eligible for donation and my doc won't script it.

you can pay a place to do it?

So it isn't like the donation people say to you something regarding issues with elevated counts?
They test your RBC on the spot to make sure your not low, I've been very high and they just tell you it's high so giving blood might make you feel more energized because it'll thin your blood a bit.

You don't have to worry about anything.

Why aren't you eligible?

You don't need to worry about that question.Because before you donate your blood, there is a test to decide whether you are ok. :headbang:
