Mother fucker i dont know where to start. I am incredibly frustrated. I was at the gym today for first time in 10 weeks. Longest break iv taken in 3yrs. Well long story short, i suck ass. I struggled for 10 reps on flat with ONE PLATE! It seemed so light yet like my body didnt wanna move. Like my muscles were hollow. I had so much energy kickin and pumpin from a supp i was taking, but my strength and endurance were TOTAL SHIT. How long is this going to go on????????????????????????????????
 
Ive always been scared shitless to take time off. It would take a crippling injury or illness that causes me to be bed ridden. Thats only happened once-I missed about 2-3 days.
Last week I had a bacterial infection. Fever, NO energy or stamina, no strength, shakes, cold sweats, laboured breathing. There I am working out all week. They were the hardest workouts ever. And after I was done I felt worse.
I'll save you all the trouble from saying it. Im a dumbass!

Ive found my genetics suck. Im a weak small bastard at heart. Miss any time my body immediately trys to revert. Then it takes me forever to get it back.

Thanks for reminding me :mad: - I just had 6 stitches removed from the palm of my right hand (under the thumb) this morning. I haven't worked out in 10 days 'cause I didn't want it to break open - I'm a slow/terrible healer. Doc really suggested I take at least another 3 days if I don't want to worry about it breaking open :(
 
Damn I've never taken that long off. I usually take a week off after a show, then just go light for a couple of weeks. I'll skip a workout here and there in the offseason or go light here an there so I don't burn out but I'd never take 10 weeks off the gym totally.

By any chance were you seperated from your twin at birth because if so I think you may be my brother. :)

Mike that sounds just like me. I think i would drop 10lbs if i missed 1 week of training :(
 
In the late 80's I was killing myself to be perfect for a competition. In one week... partial tear of left tri then right calf. I threw in the towel. About a month later... I felt useless... so I took off to Infantry School at Ft Benning. Still with a great body.. you know what that brings...everybody and their parents want to arm wrestle you. I never lost.. but they were not BB'r or PL's...so it's not like I was all that...but in the process.. I was bleeding in the right bicep insert. I believe it was synovial *sp* tearing. My body was a wreck by then...don't know how I made it through. yes..... I was a dumbass. Talk about self destructive.

I always take a good bit of time off after i compete..i need it...and when i come back in the gym sure my strenth is down but it comes back pretty fast....i think its great for my body and my personal life.
 
Damn straight!

I took off three weeks. Workout weights dropped from 265 on bench to 185! :eek: 315 to 175 on squat :confused: somehow arms stayed the same or got stronger depending on the exercise (???) Crazy things happen when you don't go to the gym.

Time off is miserable. Then coming back is even worse, at least for a while. In the past four years I've missed 4 workouts. Thank god for open 24 hour gyms on holidays.
My last serious time off, I had gotten my ass kicked in a 30 man brawl. Shattered nose and serious vertigo from a major concussion. Couldn't eat solid food for a week and couldn't strain cuz the swelling in my face. Couldn't bench for a month because everytime I laid on my back the room wouldn't stop spinning. All my weights dropped by half or more. :mad: Anybody notice how people tend to gang up on the bigger guy in fights. God that sucked
 
the problem wasn't strength, it was balance... next time try 2 plates... one on each side. :p Don't worry man it will come back.
 
rest would be good....

unfortnately im way too obsessive and compulsive to do so..... so my joints and muscles hurt. 10 weex is a long time, shit aft every show ive done so far i usually back in the gym either nex mon, or the week aft the show..... OCD such a wonderful little disorder :)

After 15 years of training with no more than 3 weeks off maybe 3-4 times in my life once due to surgery (tonsillectomy) once due to bronchitis and several 2 week time periods due to travel and or da flu in 15 years. I just did a 10 weeker and am gonna enjoy this return (the resulting growth).
I still did light cardio and remained active and ate a lower protein clean diet with carb cut offs and resumed training the other week. Lost very little strength and size and never dropped below 265.

So are you saying you will get a little blast of muscle gain after taking 10 weeks off? My top bodyweight was 227 and im like 214 right now. I havent lifted or touched a protein supplement til this week. All i ate was complete shit spiradicly.

Im still curious how long before im not lifting little girl weight anymore? Its mentally depressing and VERY embarrasing.

i personally take a month off
 
I just took 7 weeks off the gym and the break was great, I could probably still use more time off since I dieted for 9 months and did 2 shows this year. I was weak as hell that first week back but the 2nd week the weights were double. I am clean as a whistle and not using any supps yet either, but its not going too bad so far. My strength wont be near as where it was when I took the break as I was in full tilt training and gear/supps wise, but it will be close once the time comes to go back on again. I actually like being off better.

You are set up now IMO to make even greater gains...like Johnny O you guys just got off some extreme preps so your body should sop up everything after the initial 2-3 week lag and gain even more.
Me I was just taking a break, from 15 years and a long off season- like 6 years! :D ;) no wait anything loner than a year aren't you considered a newbie or novice again to competition as I know I lost my National qualifiaction status about ....oh 4 years ago... :D
