YUP..
I'm now 56 facing my 1st knee replacement Feb 10th.
My last knee surgery was in 2005 and I was full motion in 4 weeks. I was using test suspension and deca.
Now I have 6 weeks before surgery and my thoughts are tes e, deca and eq with var.
My dose will be in the lower range for me and I haven't been on since 2012.
cycle sample from 2005..test e ,1200 mgs ,deca 600 mgs and eq 900 mgs..

My thoughts are test e 500, deca 500/600 eq around 600 and var some where around 40 mgs or so...with cardio every day and weights 3 to 4 times a week.

I plan on being on my feet and recovered in 6 weeks....

And for you younger guys my squat740, bench 480 and dead 685 and started AAS in 1982

I've only been using AAS since like 2006 so I don't think it's my place to tell you what to do. But best of luck with this second replacement. From where you stand/sit now, were those heavy lifts worth this?

The irony of your screen name and the subject of your post is not lost.

I would have to say I would probably do it again. I know powerlifters tend to be on the slightly hard headed side.

I was looking for some insight for someone that has gone thru what I'm having to deal with right now.

Gears:

You are a man. My surgeon told me my hip replacement was a 3 and knees are a 9. Have a new respect for my friends that have had them. Props to you. I was clean as can be during my recovery however so no advice to offer there. Good on you, you are my new hero. I am hopefully waiting till next Jan to get my other hip replaced. Hopefully they will not enable me to overload my knees.

Lots of factors in play here. I'm 62, had my left totally replaced a little over 2 years ago. I had a bit of trouble... infection, then I overdeveloped scar tissue that had to be removed by scope about 9 months after the original surgery.. Since then, recovery has been ok. I love the stability now. I had a torn mcl and acl, no cartilage to speak of, etc. and I had to bind it up heavily to do anything. I have not recovered much size and not as much strength as I hoped. It's different... seems the leverages have changed dramatically and the left leg looks deformed. By the time I could train again that leg looked like a broomstick with a grapefruit in the middle of it. I can't imagine taking it back on stage. On the positive side, I can do most traditional leg work, hike, play golf, and do most of what I want. I was on test/eq right up to the surgery but I had deteriorated for a couple of years prior despite the best I could train. I won't attempt to predict your outcome or whether running a blast to gain as much strength as possible pre surgery would help you. It didn't me, but I wish you better success.
