For what it is worth

I followed his ‘food plan’ to a T years ago and I was my leanest and
my strongest (as a function of my bodyweight) than I have ever been.

It worked for me . . . low protein and fat . . . high carbos. Tons of
energy, felt wonderful. And ate all I wanted.

If you have seen his Daily food planner it make sense. He says to make Starch bases Carbohydrates Main meal like brown rice, potatoes, yams, beans,lentils. Then you add 1 big Fruit and Unlimited Veggies to that meal.

I totally agree with him on Dairy. DAIRY IS NOT PART OF HEALTH HUMAN NUTRITION.

In fact people should make Fruits and Veggies as their main staple Food source than add other foods.
 
Besides my somewhat higher volume training, I have a very physical job, I just CANNOT function without an ample amount of starches, I have tried and it was impossible for me.

I know dairy is bad or at least not good but shit wtf do I do without yogurt, cottage cheese and milk. Thats like half my diet....
 
Dairy is easy to give up. I just dont buy Milk cartoons or yogourt or cheese.

Meat and fish is hard to give up. Im so used to eating meat and fish...
 
If you want to go the high carb route, check out Chris Aceto's stuff.

The idea that excess carbs aren't turned into fat is fantasy, however if they are slow enough digesting, they probably won't get a chance to turn into fat.

My new way of looking at macros:

Protein is for repair.
Fat is for energy.
Carbs are for refilling glycogen stores.

So just keep carbs in around workouts and then low carb it the rest of the time? and while you're low to no carbing it, are you eating high fat and low protein, or moderate fats moderate protein? curious how you lay it out.

I'm not saying low carbs necessarily. You burn through glycogen stores FAST. Just the nervous system and brain can burn through ALL glycogen stores in 24 hours. At rest, half of all calories burned are from glycogen.

What I'm saying is, you don't eat carbohydrates for "energy" that is a misunderstanding, you eat them to refill glycogen stores. It might seem like the same thing, but it is not. I eat a variable amount of carbs depending on how glycogen depleted I think I am.

The idea that we eat carbs for energy, with the idea that they will slowly digest and enter our bloodstream as we are using them up exercising is kind of misleading in my opinion, it might work this way for an endurance athlete in the middle of a race but not for the average bodybuilder.

yeah what FrancisK said. sea salt vinegar chips and fat free plain Greek yogurt is my cheat meal! WTheck fun in life is there without that cheat meal??? milk i can let go 2/3 of the month but fat free cottage cheese is another slow digesting whey protein i eat in last meal before bed. this alters everything i've worked for.
