what have you guys used and what gave you better results ,to me drop sets make more sense, start with heavy weight low reps and drop weight while adding reps ,now pyramid sets start with lighter weight and work up to heavy weight ,but wouldn't you be fried buy the time you get to heavy weight ,idk that's my theory but is it the best method ,what do you guys think, im sure lots have tried both, what gave better results

I incorporate both methods into my arm routine. Here's an example of what I do when using machine preacher curls or tricep cable push downs:

Warm-up set - 70lbs x 25 reps
Set 1 - 100 x 15-20
Set 2 - 120 x 12-15
Set 3 - 140 x 10-12
Set 4 - (Drop set) 160 x 8, 120 x 6, 100 to failure

I also recently started doing partials after working to failure and have started to see some decent improvement.

Both approaches are good. I always switch them every 3 months. Drop sets gave me better results but I am not sure by how much since my gear use was always modified every 3 months also so that could contribute to that also.

I see most of the biggest guys/pros just pyramiding up to their heaviest set and going all out on that one set... Marcus Ruhl, Yates and lots of others i've never seen in any of their vids do a drop set.

when i think "drop sets" i think of lifting a particular weight to failure...dropping the amount of weight, without rest, and continue to failure with the lower weight. think superset with same exercise..just less weight.
