Dumb question about western union??

When sending out money to someone, do I put their last name under paternal or maternal? I was looking at a form alst night because I have never done it before and I noticed this. It said firts name and then last name paternal and last name maternal??? I know this is probably a real easy question but I'm confused. Thanks
