A good friend of mine, she's more like a sister to me, called me today and told me she has an eating disorder, I've known this for a while but she finaly came clean about it. She is absolutely beautiful and has never been a big girl, only 5'1 and has gone from weighing 112 lbs. to 80 lbs. in about 4 months. She told me she's only eating 600 calories a day but doesn't always keep it down, sometimes she throws it back up or she will take laxatives becuase she feels so guilty about eating. I told her how what she's doing is affecting her organs and what not, and told her if she wants to fly (she's a cheerleader) this football season she needs to be at least 95 lbs or she will pas out from exhaustion or get seriously hurt if she is dropped. I even offered to hire a nutritionist for her and start taking her to the gym with me, but all she could say was that food scares her and when she eats she feels guilty. She said at first she just wanted to get toned, then she wanted to get skiny for her boyfriend, and now things are out of control and she doesn't know how to stop because she can't bring herself to eat.
Now i'm a guy and a powerlifter so im focused on getting bigger and stronger and therefore don't know what it's like to be scared of eating and feeling guilty about it. What do i tell her and do for her to help her get through this? Like i said, this girl is like a sister to me and i'm concerned she's going to end up in the hospital if she don't turn things around soon. Any guidance yall can offer as to how to help her would be very much appreciated.
