Is eating egg yolks as bad as smoking? – The Chart - CNN.com Blogs

When I saw this on the news this am I almost spit my yolks out! WTF!

After reading the article I'm not as concerned. They base their findings on a questionaire of 60+ yr olds with cardiovascular issues.

I eat 6 or more whole organic cage free, fertile eggs a day. I would love to here from some of the more knowledgeable guys here about their view on this study.

for every study to read saying one thing their will be another saying the exact opposite , just depends on who is payin for study.

I'd be more apt to believe new I saw on the fucking Disney channel than what I hear on CNN

Thats it then. If CNN BLOGS say it, then it must be true  I'll stop eating my eggs now and smoke a cigarette for breakfast instead :p

LOL! Guess Im screwed -might as well take up smoking again.

Now that is funny :p

It is an interesting article; however, there are many things to consider:

  • Their sample is people at risk for cardiovascular disease
  • They used multiple regression and didn't account for exercise, supplements, and other lifestyle factors
  • They didn't use interactions in the regression

For people who understand statistics, the above points pose many issues. These are results without important factors like exercise and lifestyle factors accounted for. In addition, for healthy people (or people not at risk for cardiovascular events) how are we supposed to interpret these results?

For those people who disregard any scientific study, please don't; this is what gives science a bad name - researchers from universities are rarely biased and for the most part take the ethical route.

If its true, I am going to die young. I have my own hens and 90% of my protein comes from raw eggs.

I used to eat 20 eggs a day when I boxed.. That was at least 8 years ago, been eating 10 now and recently had blood work, I'M fine knock on wood.

if the cartoon news network is behind this in some way, its bullshit.

Correlative study at its worst.

Did you know that people who call 911 are 99% more prone to injury? Don't call 911, it's bad for your health!

This is crazy...what are we back in the 80's again with this eggs are bad hype

Here's another thing that blasts me...

Atherosclerosis, also called coronary artery disease, occurs when plaque builds up in the blood vessels leading to the heart, specifically the inner arterial wall, and limits the amount of blood that can pass through.

And just how did that plaque form? Why do we quickly glaze over that step? It formed because something else went wrong before this. The cholesterol is just trying to do its job. It's the ambulance driver and we're kicking it in the nuts instead of chasing down the hit-and-run driver that caused the accident in the first place. Who is that driver? A hint: Inflammation.

Who is that driver? A hint: Inflammation.

Damn right. And what is the major cause of inflammation?
All the processed crap carbs that make up the majority of Westerner's diets.

LOL i would be dead by now as i have 1-2 dozen egg whites a day.I dought that its that bad for you as they say.

Did you know that 98% of stats posted online are made up? lol
