It seems like 2 or 3 weeks before all of my big shows, i've always had some type of obligation that involves an extended hotel stay... weddings, bachelor parties, family reunions, etc.... This is what I usually do, and it has yet to keep me from placing well..
I routinely grill up about 15lbs of trimmed up chicken breast, and cut it all up and package it into seperate freezer bags... one for each day.. (3 days =approx 15lbs chicken)... Put it in a cooler with ice packs, and then at the hotel, continuously, and as often as possible, fill the cooler with ice from the ice machine. Since I was pre-contest, my only other foods were oats and rice cakes. Rice cakes took care of themselves, and for oats, i bought sugar free instant oatmeal packets, and would put one in a coffee cup, mix it with cold water, and eat it like it was cereal. I'd also get dry salads from the hotel restaurant and put my own chicken on it. I always felt like my little 3 day "vacations" prior to competitions ALWAYS made me harden up. For some reason being restricted solely to chicken breast and oats, rather than the other diet-friendly foods I used at home, caused an immediate plateau breaker and conditioning improved.
