I always figured Davie Lee Roth would be the first of the guys to go. I was sad today when I got this news. Van Halen is one group that I wish I had gone to see in concert back in the 80s. I wasnt that much into them then but like them more now.

One thing I remember when they would interview Eddie. He said he would always throw up before every show (nerves). Nerves....EVH? Then the man would go out there, and just set ablaze that 6string. A tried and true legend.

I used to play guitar and went through an obsessive Van Halen phase when I was 19. I bought the MX-90 phase shifter for my setup and played what I could. A lot of his stuff was really technical and the sweep picking eluded me. I have the Live Without a Net DVD and Best of Both Worlds double disc album. Whether it was with Sammy or Dave, I liked it all. Here's most of his guitar collection

And here he's ripping the song 5150 from the DVD I mentioned above. This song is very difficult to play. Some notes and chords require you to use your index and pinky fingers and they're far apart making your hand hurt. Nevermind running around onstage and doing it effortlessly. Rest in Peace, Edward. You'll always be one of the greatest.

Grew up with VH. "Right Now" was huge when i was a kid and MTV still played videos but I'm a "Top Jimmy" guy. I guess i'm old to see many of the guys i watched and loved growing up pass. Real bummer...

A legend gone. RIP. Unfortunately, he was a heavy smoker and was never able to quit the habit, at least from what I have read over the years. He left a mark on music that will forever be remembered and worshiped.
