This was my response on another thread. I just didn't want my response buried so that only a few got to have the chance to read it and respond. I am dissapointed that egold isn't used more. It is a tool for a very important area of the game that at a minimum needs to be thoroughly understood for it's strength and weaknesses. like so many other areas, you can sure get alot of negative opinions and so many times it seems that people appear to throw the baby out with the bath water.
Egold:
1. It can be a pain in the ass!
2. They will take your money in a heartbeat!
3. You can use it even if the feds potentially have access to the account info.
4. It is only a matter of time before it fails you.
5. It's not for everybody but you better find an alternative to cash in the mail.
Now the only guy I know who refuses to deal with egold is IP. They stole over $40,000 from him. Most everyone else has lost 3 - 10K one way or another ( mostly to frozen accounts ) Today these guys know how to move money around and through e-gold so they are not so vulnerable as they were before. Hard lessons learned. Like debit cards there are real risks, but the risk of not operating anonymously is so much greater if you play hard.
EGOLD REMAINS A VIABLE ANONYMOUS TOOL
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
First of all I have only used an ecurrency provider to fund the account once. And I merely sent a money order made out using the same name and address that my egold account was set up in. Now I do have a number of egold accounts though.
I am a little confused as to where the difficulty is. I could go to e-gold right now and set up five different accounts in about 10 minutes. I would
1. Hit Create an account
2. Give a company name
3. Give a personal name
4. Give a reasonable Address
5. Select a paraphrase
6. Select an alternative paraphrase
7. Use a legit stealth email account; cyber, hush, securenym, keptprivate, ect.
8. Recieve my new e-gold account # at my contact stealth email account.
Now I might one afternoon create 5 different egold accounts. One of them might be completely in my real ID. Maybe that account would be the account I fund or the account I take money out of. The other four would be all bogus with the exception that the contact email which cannot be traced to me is legit. Most likely I would never use the real ID egold for anything as the system works very well anonymously. If you are going to use an account connected to you, use the other accounts to insulate you by moving money first through them.
Thats where www.anointedsfindnot.com comes into use. I guess most of you aren't very into anonymity, but you can't afford not to be. You see with 30 different servers to pick from I can access each account with a different IP addy.
You do know the feds have access to egold don't you? E-gold is operated out of Florida and the feds have raided the office at least once in the last year or so. In fact some people claim e-gold is actually cooperating with the feds.
Now unless you are a very large drug dealer, money launderer, or terrorist you aren't going to be on the radar screen. But e-gold is not your friend either and with 90% of the accounts fraudulently set up, one complaint or questionable transaction brought to their attention, will get your account frozen. Since you can't prove you are the rightful owner, guess what? they keep your money!!!They make a lot of money this way.
You never keep money in a primary e-gold account, you move it to a distant account nobody knows the number for. Then you get the money out of egold as fast as you can. Egold will fail you one of these days and you don't want your money in there when it does.
If you think handling cash is the way to go, you probably don't do enough business to realize how vulnerable you really are. The name of the game is to be anonymous, and if you can't achieve that you shouldn't be playing what you are playing.
Egold functions very well once you have accounts set up IF you know where the vulnerabilities are.
From a customers perspective who just wants to get the payment to the supplier it seems like a big hassle and I can appreciate that. Once the money is in the account it is an instantaneous exchange which is hassle free.
