EPA AND DHA INHIBITED MUSCLE GROWTH ??

I hear a couple of bodybuilders in the gym yesterday talking about a some recent studie that says omega 3 inhibited or delated muscle growth. Is this true ??...any one read about this ??. I don't beleive, i don't fine any logic in it. One of then say is in a edition on Muscular development.
 
Several studies have also shown that shitting reduces weight gain.
 
Yeah, you can find a study to support about anything... Then go on a forum full of meatheads like all of us and see how we regurgitate that info to eachother!:D
 
PUFAs have an anti-inflamatory response. I beleive you want a certain degree of muscular inflamation during and post workout to elicit the most anabolic response to intense training. Therefore it's probably best to avoid DHA/EPA around the workout. I wouldn't not take them though. I just take my efas early in the day and train at night. I don't know if there is any creedance to this postulation but I recall reading literature to this effect and it made sense so I made adjustments to the timing of my efa supplementation. Can't say that I have noticed any difference though

The study was conducted on rats, one group was on corn oil and on group on fish oil, the muscle recovery was faster in the group taking the corn oil, so just kip taking your EPA and DHA it would not stop you from growing. On other study coducted on people with cancer it showed thath Omega 3 helped to slow down muscle loss.
 
I just wrote an article on this topic. Just like NSAIDS can negate the inflammation response from training, fish oil can act in a similar fashion. It will lower arachidonic acid formation which ultimately blocks PGF2a which has demonstrated to elicit protein synthesis and initiate growth factors in repsonse to training. However, fish oil is amazing in lowering total triglycerides, blood pressure, and has been proven to help body fat loss. It also has a protein sparing, anti-catabolic effect. I have experimented with 48 fish oil caps a day plus 4 tbs of olive oil and it was too much. I was flat and my blood was way too thin. However, if dosed at around 12-15 caps a day it will aid in body composition change, decrease propensity for fat accumulation when bulking and help joints that are usually problematic. Fish oil is great, too much is bad. Like anything in life.
