I think from an intellectual point view I think it's interesting to think about the benefits in the BB world. I used EPO for several years awhile back in the endurance world and never felt it was dangerous. I always thought strongman competitors would benefit the most but I also wondered why more BB'ers didn't at least experiment with it. Maybe because AAS typically raises HCT so that point might be moot, but maybe those with lower HCT could potentially benefit from it.
You do need to be diligent with testing iron levels, HCT and blood pressure. The protocol is as simple or complex as you want to make it like any other cycle. Actually the newer version (Mircera) is way simple since it is longer acting and doesn't require as frequent dosing.
Would I recommend it? Probably not, but if you are intellectually curious, detail oriented and everything else is on point it's not that dangerous unless you have an underlying condition as Maldorf says.
If you are not at the cutting edge you probably won't notice a difference.
