ok so while my steak is defrosting i was thinking about something while making my morning espresso.
i read there is 50mg caffeine per 1oz of espresso, now WE all know how great caffeine is for muscle building, I was thinking making 2 cupps of coffee (200mg caf) and adding in 10oz of espresso and sipping on it throughout the day finishing it within 4-6 hours of bed but drinking a majority around workout time, does this make sense, i figured ya know try it out see what happends. id put the blend in a water bottle, i was also thinking of adding 2oz espresso per shake. cause caffeine sorta kills the appetite so i figured it would help get around the appeitie issue if i added in with a meal. anyones thoughts on this?? i just feel like trying something new, my routine supp intake, diet etc is DOWN to a key so i figured id try something new getting a little bored of the same old routine.

For fat loss yes, but for building muscle... :confused:

I wouldn't add it to my shakes if I were you: caffeine prevents a lot of micro nutrients/minerals to be efficiently absorbed.

im glad i posted this before i decided to go through with it. thanks a lot bro for the input. i just read a bunch of stuff how it helps with recovery.
 
I was drinking 2 cups of.... actually, probablly 6 - 8 because I have giant coffee mugs. Starbucks French Roast, Whole bean, 6.99 per bag at Kroger.

Anyways, esspresso maker makes 8 shots at a time. 4 in the 1st cup, 4 in the 2nd. With several shots of creamer....OOOHHHH YES!!! THATS how to wake up in the morn.

Only problem is, I had super high BP at my last physical. Certain part of it was from watching that DVD "NAN DEC" and Our all time favorite college party DVD " Tren U" , but Ive got it down to 140/80 ; was 170/110!!!!! ( which I dont understand, 140 is stage 1 Hyper and 80 is normal)

Ive had to cut down on the Joe sadly, now all I get is a weak cup, and I mean a real metric measured cup, of some weak mud, looks more like tea.
 
I wake up to 4 shots of expresso mix with Vanilla LBA and skim milk.
 
I don't even wake up until I have 2 cups of coffee. I wouldn't want that much caffeine all day long.

Seriously, I get 90 caffeine caps(200mgs)for about $3 at Walmart. I pop one of those and wash it down with a Starfucks reg cap with an extra shot. Total caffeine is more than a Tall at about 1/2 the cost. I follow up with 50mgs of ephedrine, a massive dip of Skoal, and 2 mins later, like clockwork, I shit my brains out. The beginning of another great morning!!!

I get those cheap caffeine pills too, they work great though.

I don't do alot of caffeine, but lately, I need something in the afternoons...BUT when ever I have had caffein in the PM, I cannot sleep, anyone have this issue? and what do you take besides coffee, and caffeine pill?

I do! I am with you on that one Marilyn. I love a good espresso, but if I have a double shot late in the afternoon, it keeps me from getting a good sleep. I train mid afternoons so after that workout, no more caffeine for me at all. + too much caffeine is not good for your blood pressure since it constricts blood vessels.

What? you don't do coffee?? But you married a greek? They have the best coffee around bar none. You want a pick me up? Just make a greek coffee but a cup not the tniy demitass ones. I drink about three of those a day!!!! ( I make the best greek coffee) One right before training. Not only will it rev you up but it will heat you up also. Caffiene is a thermogen so it will burn fat!!

Drink up girl!! Just watch out for the mud at the bottom.:eek:
 
i think thats a bit to much my man.
i wake up to a nice cappicino (2-3shots espresso in it) i usaly do my work out 1-2hrs later. then i may have 1 more later on and a few green tea's.

i try to upp the amount of green tea when cutting "around 4-6cups" of green tea and atleast 1 cappacino when i get up. i love em.
i just ordered a nice new one (damn there alot of $) shoudl be in in1-2 days CANT WAIT!!! last one explodid that right it did but it lasted 7 yrs so its no biggie pluse it was a cheap one.

soo id say try to stick to under 5 shots espresso a day or a few cups a day of coffie. it WONT help build mucle, prob will make it harder.
BUT IT HELPS WORK OUTS do try not to over do it im sure u will be ok.


ps.some times i take a 200mg caffein pill also before work out but try not to do that too much. some days i just need a bit more you know.
 
These is a growing body of evidence
that the terpenes contained in the oil
of the coffee beans interfere with
cholesterol metabolism, resulting in
higher levels of LDL and total cholesterol.

The best way for now to remove these
terpenes is with a paper filter. Espresso,
drip, French press, and gold filters just
don't do it.

So it's back to paper for me.

This is very interesting.
My cholesterol went from 160 while ON to 270 when off over a period of years. The only difference in that time (other than the passage of several years - aging) was a massive spike in my coffee consumption.
At one point I was up to 15 cups a day (free in my office kitchen).
Nowadays I am down to maybe 5-6 on average, but some of them are usually triple espressos mixed with cappuccinos.

11 years as a UNIX administrator will make a coffee addict out of anyone...

I know one of my favorite drinks before training is some espresso or just super strong coffee. I couldnt drink it all day though.

hey, Greek coffee sounds good...I'll get some, I'd love to try it...not sure about the mud:rolleyes:

coffee Gets things moving along in my belly so not so good pre-workouts
 
Only drink coffee once in awhile, maybe 3 cups/wk max. For good energy throughout the day or pre contest, I like to take 5 or 6 packets of Celestial green Tea and mix it w/ 2 quarts of water and ice. I drink it cold, and ed I make it my goal to drink the 2 quarts of Tea before noon.
 
I think I would get sick. Plus I think your just setting yourself up for a long night of no sleep.
