Hey guys, just curious; where did most of your nutritional knowledge come from? Trial and error? Reading articles online?

I've been reading articles online, viewing other diets, and counting macros and constructing my own diets to see what works for me for the past few years. But there is a lot that I need to learn!

What books have you guys read or resources have you used to expand your knowledge? I bought one of Shelby's ebooks. Any others I should look into?

Just use the search features of this site, there is plenty of nutrition on this forum! Or hire a trainer from this forum!

I personally learned the most from The Zone by Barry Sears and Championship Bodybuilding by Chris Aceto. Figuring out what works for me was just a lot of trial and error, meal planning and the food scale are essential.

Trial and error for the most part. A lot of ideas came from this site, but you have to learn your body.

32 years of trial and error. Always listening to someone that has more knowledge will help a great deal.

Trial and error for me for the most part and picking and choosing advice I got from some knowledgeable people and from ignorant people who pretend like they know what they are talking about. Everybody responds differently to carbs and fats and one way will not always work for another.

Learnt a lot hear, a lot from datbtrue and a lot of trial and error. Still learning but the shits really coming together

If you want to learn a great deal about nutrition, get the book Nourishing Traditions.... Changed the way I think about nutrition.

Read the MountainDog diet thread. It in itself is a book and a damn good one!

All great suggestions; I have read the Mountain Dog thread.

Could anyone provide me with a PM or something referencing some of the popular trainers on here so I could get a quote??

I know of Shelby and hope to work with him at some point in the future.

My nutritional knowledge has come from hundreds of hours meticulously reading Pro Muscle along with a bbing mag subscription, topped off with recently starting Phils program

For me id say trial and error, countless hours of internet searching, bodybuilding forums, and actually picking the brains of specific people i know like nutritionist and trainers.

Obviously discounting actual nutrition books;)
Join the mountain dog express site.
John puts up lots of great research and articles it is worth the modest fee.

articles online ,magazines, ppl, trial and error, videos online.

I have tried to join John's site but the payment gateway won't work for me. Have contacted him about it, just need a response.

For straight nutrition, college and taking nutritional biochemistry, food chemistry, food science, medical nutrition therapy, physiology, biochemistry, o-chem....all gave me a foundation and understanding of the body and why things occur.

For physique enhancement....a combo mixed with the above, my own trial and errors, reading experiences from the message boards throughout the years, and some books from Duchaine, Lyle mcDonald, et al, and also pubmed.

For individual references...Duchaine, Lyle McDonald, Alan Aragon, Dante/DoggCrapp, nandi (rip), my old friend named cockdezl who also posts as micro2000, my old friend MS/retropump, Homonunculus, datbtru, pat arnold, and many more, including posts from guys sharing their experiences across the forums.

You just gotta find if you respond to Fat diets or Carb diets.

The Rest stay the same.

Protein High

Some people dont respond well with Fats and some dont respond well with carbs.
