Experience of Insulin in terms of Anabolism?

I recently saw a video short by John Jewitt suggesting his beliefs that he does not feel Insulin provides much benefit as he initally thought in terms of anabolism and creating a greater hypertrophic response. He advises he less likely to use slin going forward.

I beleive Justin Harris advocates cycling carbs and utilising slin on high days. John suggests that doing so isn't providing much benefit and if anything finding ways to add more volume, rather than more carbs and slin will yield greater return.

Im quite new to using slin. Ive been utilising 5iu Novarapid 10-15mins pre training with an intra, 2 days a week on high carb days which fall on my back days, as its an area I've trying to really bring up. I've found since adding it that my progression week to week has been the best its been and my recovery has massively improved, alongside my usual AAS.

Surely better recovery will lead to better progression and thus, more lbm gained?

Not hating on John either, I think he puts out solid info as well as Justin Harris.

As a Justin client, i know his thoughts on this well. And i am kinda inbetween he and John.

Realistically, i dont think insulin is any magic potion/pill for anabolism. But what it does do is help alleviate and help some of the natural processes our body DOES DO in order to grow. Will adding preWO insulin be the light switch you were looking for in terms of new growth? Definitely not. But when a very large bodybuilder is trying to process massive amounts of food, it has its place. Probably not the answer you were looking for but its the truth. Plenty of guys have gotten huge with insulin...but not BECAUSE of insulin.

I like preworkout insulin with a mixed meal (protein+carb) for the muscle pumps and some nutrient partitioning (something like how Milos Sarcev described)

The controversial part: enough carbs to cover the insulin not vice versa -- I'm bodybuilding not diabetic

I have found insulin to be most useful when I'l lean to provide a more full look (cosmetic). After using Slin over the past 15 years in many different ways I really can't confirm that it accrues new tissue. It may but the only way I could discern it's benefit is if I had an identical twin brother that did the same as me for 15 but did not use it.

I do think it can be a useful tool in the box.

Insulin deff helped me break through several "boundries" in regards to weight, as a tool to recover it also boosted it alot when done correct with food. Does it make you an absolute beast nae man.. i personally look at it the same way i do HGH its another tool in the box, but people put some of these compounds on a pedestal.

Basically my thought, as well. It's a tool to make your diet more effective, and it becomes more important the more carbs you're eating (so probably the bigger you get).

At some point I asked Justin whether I was leaving a little on the table by not using insulin on off-season high days (1000+ carbs), and he said yes - At that point we want more than your pancreas is probably going to produce, and we get some extra anabolism from it.

I don't find it to be a game changer in any way, shape, or form the way GH has been, and tbh I get confused when I hear anyone talk about it that way. I have a hunch most of those people are experiencing a placebo or just confusing their fullness with real growth.

I've moved away from fast-acting (and high days) to just using a little Novolin-N AM and PM in the off-season. Either way, the effect when food is high is basically the same - I process it more quickly / efficiently, and I feel more "emptied out" by the time I'm eating again.

John completely abandoned insulin in the last offseason at some point, he claimed that it does not provide any additional benefits. besides, he has been saying for a long time that insulin has nothing to do with anabolism in his opinion and is only supposed to alleviate the stress of the pancreas. Stefan does not use insulin even when his bodybuilder eats 1100-1200g of carbohydrates, he believes that our pancreas can handle such an amount. I know that jasnan was not a big fan of using saliva either. sometimes he used it in a small pre and post.

perhaps it's not the insulin in and of itself - rather bodybuilders are using such high doses of GH that they become so insulin resistant that they aren't really absorbing the food they eat.

then, they add insulin in, and wham.. they are absorbing nutrition again.. still abusing GH to the max.. but that's a conversation for years down the line when all the health issues show up lol

John has talked about using lantus when he grew his most with Jansen. I have no dog in this fight, but I think to say Jansen was not a fan of insulin is inaccurate.
