i know these DC guys do these stretches after they work the muscle.

I've heard that Light stretching after workout aids in recovery.

is there any scientific evidence to suggest that this extreme stretching stretches muscle fascia? this doesn't seem realistic to me. Does it actually help with recovery? does this extreme stretching work any bette than light stretching if at all?

I've never seen strong evidence to support it.

Have any of you guys that do DC exeriment with doing no stretches and then stretching. Did you notice a difference?

Conan I train with the DC program but DC does not train me. I use the stretches and they make a huge difference. The day that I train a muscle I am usually sore by that night and then the next morning, but by the end of the day or the next day I am barely sore at all. Some days I have skipped the stretching or just did not have time for it and did not get sore right away like I normally do and the soreness lasted for about 3 days instead of 1 or 2.
Hope this helps

I think each person needs to figure it out for themselves. Alot of people don't stretch but I can tell you that there is a need for it. I suffer from bursitis and some tendonitis, and stretching helps. It may not seem like much, but between the ART and the stretching it works. That is alittle different that muscle alone but if it aids to help recover and reduce ailments of the joints, why not the muscle?

Also my back used to bother me a ton and since I started stretching it barely bothers me.

so your saying that you noticed you are more sore for a longer period of time when you do not stretch?

I don't know how u are sore from one set. I do 3 sets per muscle, 3x week. and have no soreness.

Have you tried doing DC training if you do it right it is just enough, maybe even too much for some. And yes when I dont stretch I am sore for much longer which just shows that stretching increases recovery.

I learned that stretching does not relieve muscle soreness,(specificity principle).. but will make you ofcourse more flexable... Being more flexable will cross over to making mvmnts easier and allow for bigger range of motion. its a trick question, stretching certainly wont hurt you.

I think more so then stretching, rest and nutrition play a bigger role in soreness..

Done right it's more than enough. Something really doesn't seem like it's getting done properly if you not feelng sore. Although I don't use soreness as I guide as I also don't always get sore. But Most of the time I follow a DC style workout.

the stretches are very good, even if ur not a dc trainer.......just get that pump and stretch that shit out

extreme stretching realy seems to have helped my chest. but it might have been the dc training alone, cant tell for sure. But it feels good(or well its horribly painfull but feels good after its done) and makes me less sore for sure

i do dc style, and yea i feel the fascia is stretched if done properly
try it, u wont talk smack on it after, lol
im a damn near 7 bencher and using 3155 for my first workout was HUMBLING to say the least
frk
