Fast Resting Heart Rate

It would be helpful to know what you are currently taking (AAS, HGH, any other medication, etc) before answering this

Sorry you did mention TRT. I missed it

There could be so many reasons why your HR is higher than you want it to be, but if I were you, I'd get it down to 60 however I can. Whether that requires a non selective beta blocker like Nebivolol or not.

^^^to me ..this has all the makings of a possible HYPER-thyroid condition
(..Graves' disease is one)

..hereditary perhaps, seeing as how your dad & sister have it too

^^^something to look into for sure

.

x2. Need a full thyroid panel with FT3 and FT4 to check for this.

Why is water alone not enough for hydration? Can you elaborate on that please?

Stewie is 100% right about electrolytes as I found out the hard way. I always disregarded them and just drank copious amounts of water. Big mistake. My sodium level was always too low and my RBC potassium was much lower than it should have been. Now I am super liberal with my Celtic sea salt intake and put a little bit into smoothies, along with potassium citrate powder. Much better numbers now.

Electrolytes are essential for proper hydration. All too often I'll see individuals state they're drinking copious amounts of water --1-1.5gal per day. Yet, if they have any recent copy(ies) of their CBC/Chem panel, their Albumin will be encroaching >5g/dL, their Na nearly bottomed out and their osmotic concentrations are indicative of insufficient hydration/dehydration.

If they're chugging copious amounts of water and pissing several times throughout the day This can create an individual to piss their Na (sodium) in the dirt, which shits on hydration. If they're sweating during the course of the day, this too will push their Na further down. Especially if they're not getting in sufficient electrolytes.

In the context of increased HR, insufficient hydration/dehydration increases cardiac output via increase HR to maintain adequate systemic blood perfusion.

The OP may be sufficiently hydrated in which case would be unrelated to his RHR. If he's on the school of routine phlebotomizing pushing his Fe in the dirt, this can increase his RHR, too.

Well good thing I eat like 5 bananas a day and I put iodized sea salt on everything, I started focusing more on this after that video with Stan Efferding was posted the other day. But for a while I wasn’t adding much salt. And I sweat throughout the day as well as do my workouts/cardio outside and I always try to drink enough water that my pee is clear..

What are symptoms of having sodium too low?

Sorry to hijack but may I ask why the keto question? I'm currently running Keto with 250 test and 200 mast and 4 iu HGH. Since keto I noticed my RHR went up, do you happen to know why? Always have a higher RHR than most but now I notice it a little more.

There are a few different notions of GH increasing HR. One being the increased peripheral conversion of T4 to T3.

As for ketogenic dieting, this can lead to dehydration. If ones not sufficiently taking in extra electrolytes. One gram of carbohydrates draws roughly 2.6gms +/- of water. If you have a deficit of carbohydrates, this will lower total osmotic concentrations (basically water, extracellular fluids) namely glucose and Na.

Overall, lack of sense of well-being and fatigue are the two more prominent telltale signs of lowish Na. As well, a bit of increase in ones HR.

That was literally the first thing they checked! My dad has Graves’ disease..they checked me and nothing.

^^^what tests exactly did they do?

unfortunately thyroid panel may not be enough to diagnose

..they usually do a "radioactive iodine uptake test" ..& sometimes even this is not enough to confirm

"Graves" in an autoimmune disease ..so in addition to the above they may do an "antinuclear antibody test" (ANA)
..autoimmune disease do not have to be systemic & can affect only one organ (..as is the case in Graves' & Hashimoto's disease)

my suggestion is investigate further ..go see a thyroid specialist ..one who is familiar with "graves" & don't rely on your PCP to catch it

^^^the reason i say this is because you have your father's & sister's symptoms
& just the fact that your father has it makes it a strong probability that you may have the condition as well

..all the best brother

^^^homosexuality & the desire to eat alot of bananas

I had this once back around 2003 or so. I had developed cardiomyopathy. The cause was unknown, but when I got off all steroids for about 11 months my ejection fraction returned from a low of 35% back up to about 55%. At the time my EKG was normal. It wasnt until the doctor had me get an echocardiogram that it showed up as low EF and wall motion irregularities. My resting heart rate was up around 105 or so. I noticed trouble because I was getting out of breath really bad just mowing the grass and working out in the gym.

I would not rely on the EKG to tell you that your heart is ok. I would do the echo like he has asked.

Hydration status is key. Insufficient hydration will increase your heart rate, mild to moderate dehydration will jack your HR up several BPM. Water alone doesn't suffice.

I'd start with this first and foremost.

Are you keto style dieting?

I have the same issue with resting heart rate, pretty much keto diet only have intra carbs(40-80gms) and sometimes post carbs(no more than 50gms usually much less)

40years old 14% bf
750 npp 600 npp 2-5iu gh per day

wondering if there is any corelation with keto diet and high resting heart rate. mine has been the same since i can remember. goes up a few bpm if i run t3

Should add i drink 3L of water a day with electrolyte capsules

Including cardio and excluding carbs keeps both my heart rate and blood pressure low.

npp and hgh both will definitely cause a large spike in heart rate

Sorry should have been 750 test 600 npp

But it only raises a few bpm when on blast. When i cruise i come off everything except 250mg of test still resting heart rate of 82-85

82 to 85 isn't that far off the average of about 70 to 75. Id say chances are you just need to do more cardio and increase fitness.

Thanks mate, always on the verge of paranoia about my heart. Have just actually purchased a tread mill(so i can do fasted cardio while kids get ready for school) and started doing cardio after training. Realised how unfit i got when i went back to the gym, fat came off pretty quick and muscle came back fast,. just going on how many calories i burnt compared with my gf who sometimes trained with me showed there is defintly some level of cardio needed. Didnt actually know that would bring resting heart rate down that much. Thanks for the advice

There isn't any reason you can't get that rate down to mid 60s in a couple of months. The heart beats faster to make up for low stroke volume. Increase the efficiency and strength of your heart and stroke volume goes up, heart rate down. The two have an inverse relationship. The product of the two is called cardiac output.

Increasing the fitness of your heart will make your weight workouts better too, especially tough exercises like squats.

Yes mine has always been slightly fast. My first indication that it was slightly fast was on my 7th grade physical. I had to wait in line for like an hour and when it was my time they asked if i was just running around..im like wtf cant you see this long ass line! My HR was in the mid 80's on that physical.

My HR has almost always been in the mid 80's resting sometimes upper 80s low 90's during the day. It is what it is.. ive had EKG's, echos, cardiac MRI's. All my blood work is fine.

It use to bother me the most when i would lay down at end of the day in bed. i could really feel my heart pounding. I expect its from some increased blood return but doesnt really matter.

Theres quite a few studies relating heart rate to early mortality and morbidy but i write that off as most people who have higher heart rates are out of shape. I have always been in quite good shape and i do cardio daily. I used to run cross country in hs and do track and my HR was still elevated back then too.

I take atenolol 50mg before bed. Makes a world of a difference for me. It drops my HR down to about 70 and i feel good all night.

It is what it is.. im not concerned but it is annoying to have to take a beta blocker. I dont "need to" but im certainly more comfortable when i do.

does the Atenolol keep HR down during day too? Or just over night?

I take Bisoprolol and its just one tiny 10 mg tablet a day and it lasts 24 hours. Its powerful. 10mg is a high dose. You have to start out a lot lower. Im not familiar with Atenolol. I also took Carvedilol and its has a greater effect on lowering BP too. Bisoprolol is more heart specific and doesn't affect the rest of the vascular system as much. I stopped Carvedilol because my BP was getting too low. Low BP and you feel like shit.
