Fasted 5 IU Humulin-R with HGH for IGF Boost—Anyone Tried This?

Hey everyone,

I’m looking into adding Humulin-R insulin fasted alongside my HGH to boost IGF-1 levels, but I’m doing intermittent fasting and want to avoid eating after the insulin doses to stay within my fasting window. I’m aiming for a 1.5:1 ratio of insulin to HGH.

Here’s my planned protocol:

  • 4 IU of HGH in the morning with 6 IU of Humulin-R (fasted)
  • 3 IU of HGH in the afternoon with 5 IU of Humulin-R (fasted)
  • 3 IU of HGH in the evening with 5 IU of Humulin-R (with my meal)

I’m interested to hear from anyone who’s tried something similar. Have you experienced any issues with hypoglycemia when dosing insulin like this while fasted? Any tips for managing blood sugar without food after the morning and afternoon doses would be really helpful. Thanks in advance!

Glutamine might be worth looking into for this purpose

I don’t understand why someone would do this tho 🤔

Agreed this just seems dumb. 11iu of insulin total in a fasted state--yeah... unless you have massive insulin resistance you're probably going hypo with that.

And even then I don't understand the point. If you're doing IF I'm assuming you're probably cutting, or maintaining? Won't be burning much fat with insulin in your system due to its effects on lipogenesis (puts your body into storage mode).

And insulin for the sole purpose of boosting Systemic IGF1--- systemic IGF1 can help with fat loss if you weren't putting your body into lipogenesis mode, but local IGF-1 is infinitely more important than system IGF-1

The plan just doesn't make sense to me, but maybe im missing something. Im sure someone else will chime in

Heard of people doing low dose slin (1-3iu) with l carnitine before fasted cardio for the nutrient shuttling effects, but never dosing it multiple times in a fasted state at the dosages you're talking about

If your aim is to increase IGF and maximize your fasted stated you would be better served to just pulse your HGH throughout the day every 1-2 hours.

Even if you sipped on EAA’s with your protocol you will run the risk very easily if going hypo which will throw all your benefits of fasting out the window.

I personally would never suggest anyone do this. A small amount of insulin first thing AM to push the fasted state, sure some play with that, but not throughout the entire day and while fasted.

Please do not take 11iu insulin fasted.

I, and many other older members have played with the DatBtrue carbless insulin protocols. It works but it was very tedious, and finicky. And it was absolutely not fasted.

It usually consisted of post workout dosing anywhere from 2-3iu insulin PWO. Then drinking 50-60g whey isolate. When your hunger ramps up, eat another 50-75g extremely lean protein such as eggwhites, chicken breast, lean fish.

But it was for a very specific purpose. To push anabolism as high as possible while continuing to stay in a glycogen depleted state. The depleted state was continued until fasted am cardio the next day

OP gonna get fast thrown thru window if they are driving anywhere on this protocol.

Knock yourself out if you just stick to your unicycle.

Interesting. What were the results of this?

Insulin without food is catabolic. People have some weird understanding insulin is anti catabolic in a unfed state. It is proven not. It literally causes muscle loss in a unfed state.

Insuline itself does not. Rather a fast drop in blood sugar stimulates alpha cells to make more glucagon which is catabolic.

I wanted to share my thoughts on why using Humulin-R insulin with HGH while fasted could be beneficial, especially for bodybuilders looking to maximize IGF-1, muscle growth, and fat loss. Here’s a breakdown of why I’m considering this approach and the benefits I think could come from it.

1. Boosting IGF-1 Production

  • The main reason for combining HGH with insulin is to increase IGF-1 levels. HGH alone boosts IGF-1, which is crucial for muscle growth, repair, and recovery. Adding insulin (at a 1.5:1 ratio with HGH) may enhance this effect, as insulin also plays a role in promoting growth factors. IGF-1 is one of the most potent growth factors for muscle building, as it directly promotes protein synthesis and cell growth, both of which help with muscle gains and recovery.

2. Enhanced Nutrient Utilization Without Eating Immediately

  • One benefit of using insulin even while fasted is that it still “primes” muscle cells to absorb nutrients more effectively. Even though there’s no immediate food intake, the insulin can help make the cells more receptive to glucose, amino acids, and other nutrients when I eventually do eat. This means that when I break my fast, nutrient uptake could be enhanced, which might support muscle recovery and growth more effectively.

3. Potential for Improved Body Composition

  • Since HGH helps burn fat by promoting fat usage for fuel, combining it with fasted insulin may intensify this effect. Without food in the system, the body doesn’t have much glucose available, so it might turn more readily to fat stores for energy. This could help with staying lean or even reducing body fat while in an anabolic state, so long as the insulin dose is controlled.

4. Controlled Insulin Use Without Constant Eating

  • Usually, insulin protocols require eating immediately after dosing to avoid hypoglycemia. However, with precise dosing and timing, using insulin while fasted might help maintain an anabolic state without needing constant food intake. This could be a good way to stay in an anabolic window without breaking my intermittent fast.

5. Muscle Preservation During Cutting

  • I’m also looking at this as a potential strategy for cutting phases, where the focus is on maintaining or even building muscle while staying lean. HGH and the increased IGF-1 can help prevent muscle breakdown, which is key during calorie deficits. I’m hoping that with this protocol, I can keep lean mass intact while still seeing some gains.

Of course, I’m aware that insulin while fasted carries risks, especially with hypoglycemia. That’s why I’m planning to monitor blood sugar closely and make sure the doses are precise.

Sounds like you're going to do it anyways. Start at 1-3iu, and get some l carnitine. Don't just go ateaight to 11iu in a fasted state, even if you did mention splitting the dosing

Insulin is the factor in which he is adding to cause the downstream of effects. Adding the next effect but not the rest doesn't really add any purpose. Glucagon also isn't the last step after insulin.

All insulins also raise igf1 differently and humalin r is one of the worst at it.
I was just going to point that out. R is known to be the WORST at this.
I believe Lantus is the best.

Name one top 5 Olympian that does this silly protocol? 😜
