how many of you guys fat load before a contest. say friday night, sat morning?
(or another way?)

do you think it does anything for you? improve anything?

considering of course you have enough nutrients in your system from pro/ carbs

look forward to the different approaches

i just did a show at 193lbs (NPC). I did a traditional carb deplete and carb up. I saw guys back stage eating hamburgers, french fries, cheese cake and candy bars. I just can't step on stage with all that bloat.

You may want to hire Phil to get the right answers. You've worked too hard to blow it by trying something "new".

i have a friend who is a pro, and he carbs up on double whoppers(no condiments) and fries. but it took him quite awhile to find out what worked for him, and he has someone monitor his condition very closely while he carbs up.

some people swear by it, by unless you are sub 5% i have heard it will not work.

my mistake, that is what i thought you meant by fat load
 
I've tried fat loading, and I must say it works very well for me... Because I am very carb intolerant.

I've used a combination of coconut manna, nuts, almond butter, eggs, sausage and butter. With a few rice cakes here and there.

Ultimately I was able to get just the right combination of vascularity and fulness without the bloat.
 
I'm very interested in trying a fat load approach this year. All depends on MountdainDog's decisions though. But the theory seems dependable... filling out without having to worry as much about water adjustments (although carb loading should still be used somewhere in the equation..) just my 2 cents.
 
I used a fat load for my last show... I was as conditioned as I could be going in. Striated glutes, hamtrings, and lower back were all shredded. Probably could have done anything and been fine. Cut water at 5pm friday (carbs were low all week), and had maybe 1/2 cup cooked rice friday nite but stomach was upset so didn't push it...I did sip on some grape juice but only 6oz or so all day saturday. Before predudging was 4oz grass fed liver and 6 whole eggs. 20 min till stage I sipped on the grape juice, maybe 3 oz... had a cpl tbspn of natural peanut butter (grinded myself) and some coconut oil. Filled out fairly well, our plan was to go in hard as possible tho and we attained a VERY hard look, especially for not using hormones (no aas, I do use peptides). Could I have been fuller? Possibly, but I was happy w/ my look. Btwn prejudging and the night show I had more eggs (free range, local) some beef and more coconut oil. Filled out a bit more and was even more vascular... stayed very, very dry. Legs seem to come out a bit more by the time I went on for the routine portion.

I do feel a fat load is more predictable.... If you are as lean as you can be I think you can get away w/ more but I guess to each their own.

I like the fat load and will stick w/ it for future preps.
 
I love me some fats to keep the muscles nice and full.
