Fat Loading: fact or fiction?

Hello,

I have read that some people fat load the same way some people carb load. Does fat loading have any use precontest?

I work with Scott Abel and he utilizes the fat loading protocol. I have fat loaded and shitloaded before. And I have done a regular carb load then shitloaded the night before the show, I found this way to be the best for drying out and at the same time filling out. I find just fatloading or shitloading alone both dry you out very well but doesnt fill you out too well though.

I don't know what 'shitloading' is...but I know I've dumped a shitload.

So how does one decide if they should fat load or carb load ?

Shit loading is when you just eat all kinds of high sugar/salt foods and carbs, right?

During a fat load...a person would keep carbs and protein to a minimum right?

When I began fat loading it was the day before the show and every second meal contained the fat, meals in between that had carbs.
 
Fat loading can have a few benefits.

Fat is an alternative energy source. It will help ensure that whatever glycogen you have stored from increase carbohydrate consumption stay stored.

Fat will also slow down digestion, and help control the peaks of blood glucose from the carbohydrates. There is no real concern of fat storage the day before the show. The main concern is water balance.

The mitochondria of the body (which is in every cell) feed on fat. Some believe that by loading on fat, you can "plump" up the cells of the body, helping achieve the "full" look.
 
I did this with the help of some natural peanut butter and some red meat the night before and it did help I feel. I feel the way I loaded was optimal for me. I used a combo of fats and simple sugars along with complex carbs. Not the "shit loading" purasy that some do but just a variation of it. Before pre-judging, I started to pump up and after one set of push ups I flet like my muscles were going to rip my skin open.
