Favorite Multi-use Gym Shoes?

Adidas Sambas just felt right, so they went home with me.

Thanks, guys.

Merrill Trail Glove. Awesome minimalist shoes that allow free and natural movement of all the joints in your foot and toes. Takes a little getting used to, but once I adapted, I’ll never wear another cushy athletic shoe again. And I used to think arch support was so important. That’s all marketing bullshit. Minimalist shoes will totally change your running stride and foot strike, for the better, to the most natural form.

Ive been wearing Nike "Prime Iron" for a couple years. They are made specifically for both squats/deads and cardio as well. I run bleachers in them and lift in them.

For deadlifting - Anything with a flat/tough sole that won't bend under pressure. Anything over 4 plates compresses the rubber in my shoes. My go-to is Adidas top tens. These were used by powerlifting GOAT Ed Coan. I like how they look too.

For squatting - I do ATG/high-bar aka olympic style, so shoes with a raised sole help with ankle mobility limitations. A little lift helps you require less ankle mobility to hit depth. Running shoes work fine for this.

I have chucks, Sabos, Adidas powerlifting shoes, Reebok crossfits ....but my favorite is the Merrell trail gloves. They are a great shoe you can do heavy lifts or run in.

Not a bad idea, but hygiene takes a hit. Rather not get ringworm :D

You can wear socks! : D

I tried to squat like this - the muscles worked well. But there was a feeling that you could damage the ankle. The feet were not stable.

My choice was Nike Metcon 4.

True that, i've even seen deadlifting socks marketed before. It definitely has a more natural feel. My wife likes to deadlift barefoot. I like the adidas top tens, so i can channel my inner Ed Coan.

Last summer, my last pair of Nike Metcon kicked the bucket, and I started looking for a new type of shoes for me. Over the years, my feet became flatter, and I couldn't really wear the same shoes as before. They all seemed small. Then I accepted that I was getting older and needed something different. For now, I've opted for Adidas Adizero Ubersonic 3. You can read about them more here https://www.tennisshoez.com/best-tennis-shoes-flat-feet-men-women/. I don't go to the gym as often as I used to and prefer to play tennis to keep myself fit. So, if anybody looks for the same, you can check out these sneakers. So far, so good.
