Fertility problems

A buddy of mine has been trying to get his wife pregnant for quite some time. Well after his failed attempts he went to get checked out. Well it seems that his steroid use has dropped his sperm count to next to nothing. His doctor prescribed hims some hcg at 300mg every Mon,Wed,Fri. Do you guys have any other ideas what he can do to get his swimmers back up and running alot better?

Ive already recommended him wearing boxer shorts, and was thinking maybe either some nova or clomid as well

We are by no means doctors but I will give him some ideas to think about.
1. Wear no underwear
2. Have him ask his doctor about Clomid. Funny thing is that Clomid sometimes works better for this application.
3. Have him also ask about Proviron to help restore his axis.
4. Compression of vertebrae and minor vertabrae fractures has been associated with low test levels. I would suggest he cuts out the squatting for a little bit. You should be able to look this up on the net fairly easy with the keywords vertabrae and testosterone. The old school line of thinking was the exact opposite actually. That compression of the vertabrae actually caused test levels to jump, but it seems more and more they are turning that theory down.

HMG...has LH and FSH. HCG is just LH. FSH which directly stimulates the sertoli cells to produce sperm.
Also, I have heard it takes anywhere from 4 months to a year to get your levels back up if you were at zero like me. I am going into about month 5 with no luck with my wife.

I was in the same boat, had one kit of igf-1. was just trying it out really. took 50mcg a day and my gf got pregnant before the kit was done. I have no medical basis for this. Just my personal experience.

SM were you using any PCT meds at the time to help the process?

Thanks for the answers guys. I was also told that Zinc may help as well. Any other people out there that had a similar problem? Was wondering what worked for you or someone that you know

Ive seen a few studys backing up the theory of high IGF1 levels and fertility, apparently total sperm count and motility increases when IGF1 levels are high.

I thought aas only reduced sperm count, but the mobility was the same.

My ex husband and I went through 4 years of infertility treatments. I had female problems that lead to a hysterectomy, and he had no sperm. We had no children and ended up divorced... so my advise is for them to have patients and understand with each other. Don't be afraid to seek counseling, and always keep in mind there are other options.

Sorry I don't have any better advise... I do know where to find some good books and websites for support.

What they are going through is extremely stressful and emotional time. Be supportive of them because they will need it. Good luck to them...

Sorry to tell you that the reason you ended up divorced was NOT because you couldn't have any children.

I never meant that you weren't being supportive. I was actually agreeing with you that there are other options out there... just like you said adoptions.

Our reasons for getting divorced was just compounded by the stress of infertility problems. I was just offering some support, because I didn't have that when I was going through it. Despite what you think it is one of the most stressful things a marriage can go through.

Believe me I have thought about this so many times, and since it's been a relief that I don't have any; since you asked why...

Because children are like hope.... You want to believe that your kids will help change the world and make it better.

The news media is going to only tell the stories that bring in big $$$$. Although it feels like the world has gone to hell in a hand basket, but there are still good people in this world and they have children that are good. Those are the ones that bring us hope.

It's ok. My boss walked in while I was writing my post and I got side tracked and never finished why I was quoting you...

When my ex and I were trying to get pregnant, I had a friend who was trying too. She keep having miscarriages, so they adopted a little girl from China. That's been several years ago, and now they have to beautiful girls from China. We were looking into it, but that when I decided to wait because I wanted to work things out in my marriage before we adopted a child. It was a good thing we didn't adopt. After all they went through with the miscarriages and adoptions, she tells me it was worth it. They love those girls and are so proud of them.

Has anyone used Gonadorelin (Factrel) for this problem?

It's a synthetic version of gonadotropin releasing horomone (GNRH).

Only problem is it's half life in the body is very short (~30 min I think) so it needs to be delivered by a device similar to an insulin pump.

It does stimulate production of LH and FSH so it should raise sperm count as well as test levels.

I was going to discuss this with my urologist and was curious if anyone has any experience with it.
