I don't understand. When your home brewing powders why do you run solution through a filter? what exactly are you filtering out? I can understand if your just going to filter oil, but must people run final solution through filter. I mean the filter is probably just catching mostly the powder you want.

Also whats the significance of running extra oil through the filter, people say to get out left over gear. But the filters job is to catch stuff and not let it out!!! Even so why would it let the remaining gear out and not the stuff you wanted to be filtered out?

To me this seems pointless and probably just dulls your gear.

Powders contain impurities and bacteria, Once dissolved into oil the powder passes throught the filter.

Whatman filters hold about 2ml of fluid. If you filter 10 ml through a whatman, a beaker will show only 8 mls. By running extra oil through the filter you get the remaining 2 mls.
