Finished the hardest year of my life

Well, I have just finished the hardest damn year of my entire life!!! I have just completed my first year in Law School!!! Just finished my finals, and they were kick ass to say the least... Basically it has been two weeks of non stop studying, little eating, and NO SLEEP!!! I am hoping to spend the summer training and getting back into shape... I have lost around 15 lbs this year... But actually most of it was fat... lol Because I have not been eating much and worrying alot! However, I am on the Dean's list for my first year... It was funny because at the beginning of the school year, everyone was looking at me like I was some kind of freak... I know in their minds they were thinking that this big f'er will never make it! Now most of the same ones who were dissing me in the beginning are now asking me to be in their study groups! ;) But anyway just thought I would pass along my achievement.. Hopefully I will be able to be on here and contribute more over the summer...

Yes....FREE LAWYER! I think some of us are going to need it lo; *knock on wood* DOH! Sorry its late, in one of my retarded joking moods....i should get to bed haha......

Oh yea....

Congrats! haha hard work pays off!

wow huge congratulations bro! proud of ya and im glad your doing well!

Congratulations of the Dean's Team! Quite an accomplishment. It is certainly easy to get underestimated when you are a bodybuilder or athlete. I certainly was viewed as the "Dumb Football Player" in college, and was not invited to play in all the reindeer games. Success is the best revenge. Congratulations!

Congrats, that's a hell of an accomplishment. Stick it out, get past the Bar and you'll understand why you worked so hard.

Bro, I feel your glory and pain. My wife is going into her 3rd year. They say that 1st year is the hardest, however, Im not sure that thats the case. The 1st year is just so crazy because of the shock of so much work. It doesnt change, you just get used to it.

Everytime I see a guy in law school I see the same thing: skinny, pale, weak, pack of cigs in his right hand and a shot of whisky in the left, LOL.

Congrats! You've done what most will not. Its truely an insane amount of work and dedication.

Thanks for the comments everyone... Ness, I have heard the same thing you are saying that it does not get any easier, you just get used to it!! Its crazy what you can get used to right!! Glad to hear about your wife getting through the second year... I have some friends who are rising 3L's and they say that the second year in many respects was as hard or harder than the first... I think the only difference is that they are not trying to kick your ass out as hard the second year... Because they know if you made it through the first year you are going to be an attorney... My profs have already started treating me different than when the year first started... They know who will make it and who won't...
Now, onto fmrmarine's question... Look bodybuilding is not all about gear and whatever... I think that is what so many people get hung up on that they don't see the real picture... Phil Hernon, Big A, Dante, and countless others make the point that bodybuilding is not centered around gear and what doses you take, and should never be... You don't have to be on gear to be a bodybuilder or enjoy the rigors of training and dieting... That isn't the "lifestyle!" It is how dedicated you are with your diet and training... So my plans from here on, is to concentrate on my diet and training... So to answer your question I am going to focus on staying healthy, eating clean, and training my ass off... Being an attorney is going to be my job, not my life... I love my family and I have endured the punishment this year has dished out and will continue to dish out for the next two years, for them... I am sorry for the rant, but I am not sure what you are implying by your question, and what you are wanting me say??... ;)

:D

Welcome to the club buddy :D I am a qulified lawyer too.

Good accomplishment. The back pumps from standing in court for long periods can be a bitch though :D

Congrats Swerve! I know chiro school was like that also. They were trying to weed out the week that first year.

Have a great summer. Hope to see you on here more.

I am sorry for the rant, but I am not sure what you are implying by your question, and what you are wanting me say??... ;)

I think hes wondering that if you currently use, will you continue to use even though youre an attorney. I dont think it matters or is anyone's business.

What kind of law are you looking at down the road? Gonna be the next Rick Collins? :p

Well, actually I plan on being a criminal defense attorney... ;) Although, I think the whole corporate gig is where the $ is, I just do not wanna work 80 to 90 hours a week on salary... Unless, I get offered some big time job with a huge signing bonus... I know a girl who after finishing law school clerked with a federal circuit judge for a couple of years... She got an interview with a big time firm down south, and was offered $200K signing bonus... I almost flipped! Now if those numbers are thrown my way I am going... Otherwise, I am going to be doing the defense thing...

Swerve, congrats on this bro. You will see the rewards once you get out and get going. I wish you all the best of success!!

Awesome man. A really good friend of mine is graduating from Tulane in less than two weeks and has already landed a job as long as he passes the bar. I can tell you that I am proud of my buddy. He really worked hard to get to where he is at and the hard work will pay off for you too in the end.

You should be very proud.

Big kudo's! A tough road of study, but I am sure you will make it!

Advice

Swerve -

First, congratulations! I remember finishing my first year (way back when) and simply thanking god it was all over! I do, however, think it was easier after that. First year was very conceptual but second and third are more practical, which helps.

Some advice - work very hard for the summer internships that major law firms will offer. The money is fabulous and the experience is invaluable. Plus, unless you're brain-dead, they will more often than not offer you a position upon graduation. As much as the "law firm lifestyle" sucks, it has its great points. For example, you will be working hard and building a reputation, you will be networking with people who will go onto very different things (and offer you opportunities down the road), and you will pay off your loans fast. Here in NY law firms of any respectability offer 1st year associates $140,000 per anum, a sign on bonus of anywhere from 50% to 200% of their salary, and usually cover $100,000 of moving expenses.

Hope this helps...
