I wanted to tell everyone about a movie i watched this weekend. It was Fireproof - Never Leave Your Partner Behind. I am not 100% sure that it was in theatres but it is about relationships and saving them. First off, the premise of the movie was amazing BUT the acting wass horrible, i mean absolutely horrible.

if you want a good movie to watch with your wife/significant other and get a new appreciation for the person that you love though, this movie is for you.

Also, there is a book that goes right along with the movie, The Love Dare. It is a 40 day process that will help strengthen/repair your marriage/relationship. My wife and i are taking the 'dare' and have committed to doing absolutely everything that it says for 40 days. Today is day 3 and i gotta say some of it is kinda quirky but when you think about the deeper meaning behind the little things that you have to do each day, it makes a lot of sense. Anyway, if anyone is interested i can post up the ISBn of the book or what not, i will let you guys know how the dare is going:D

Hope everyone had a GREAT weekend.

“acting was horrible, i mean absolutely horrible”

That is because it wasn’t acting !
They were trying to be as real life as they could using mostly real people like you or I.
It was shot in Albany Ga. Using locals except for the main characters.
I liked the movie.
It is a movie every married couple/person should look at.
Just try to get the message, don’t be critical of the acting .

I'm a sucker for a love story.
I rate this as a three Teardrop movie

I said it was a great movie. The acting WAS/IS horrible. I sure don't know anyone that acts quite like that:D The fact that the acting was horrible doens't change the fact that it was a great movie and i would watch it again.

I am with you on being a sucker for a love story. I will put this one in my favorites category but it is still beat out by The Notebook and Pearl Harbor.=-) The book is actually reallky good as far as what you have to read each and every day. My wife and i are not very religious(we have our own thing going that works for each of us, i use religious in the context of organized religion) but the passagesz it does use from the bible are very poignant to building a stronger marriage. My wife made fun of me at one point because i had a tear in my eye(allergies must have been acting up):D

im glad im not alone. the message gets across with this movie, even with the bad acting. i recommended this movie to another poster about a month ago. hopefully a couple can benefit from this to hopefully save their relationship. :D

My wife, and I just recently watched the movie, and it did
really touch me, and made me think twice ...

Encouraging

Thanks for posting this, it's very encouraging.

Boy- I hope this doesn't open a can of worms, if does I'm not going to bother replying...

Yes, ideally marriage is 50/50, etc, etc. BUT- sometimes it is 80/20, 90/10 and so on.

The "emotions" and "feelings" of love are great... but COMMITTMENT to SHOW your love is what it's all about.

Have you ever really listend to traditional wedding vows? Each person is making a seperate, UNCONDITIONAL promise to the other person. "I, John PROMISE to ....". There is no, "... so long as you, Mary, also do....".

I understand there are issues of abuse, cheating, etc., I'm not really addressing those.

Kirks wife hated him, he swallowed his pride, THOUGHT OF HER NEEDS, and won her over... fairytale? NOPE. Actually, this movie is not far-fetched at all. There are many marriages that were on the brink, but one person decided to lay it all on the line (sometimes for years) but eventually the other person's heart finally "wakes up". Years later, ask those people about their marriage- it is USUALLY very strong and both are VERY GLAD they stuck through what seemed impossible to get through.

Ok, ok, I'm done. Thanks.

My girlfriend and I will watch it tonight!
The Love Dare...I'm trying to find this online, but I dont think it's in ebook form, might have to actually buy it.
How fun is it so far, and how much of a difference can you tell?

Watch "behind the acting"

As was mentioned, the acting can be very "wooden" at times... this is not a knock on them at all, just more of a caveat to the watcher. It would be easy for some people to focus on the acting and not the intent. Acting, bad... STORY, very good.

I was tricked into watching it and immediately went and took some Arimidex to lower my estrogen.

This was definitely a good movie! I agree that it was bad acting, however, the message behind it is something that gets lost all too often and quickly in this world...
I encourge anyone in a meaningful relationship to watch this with your significant other...it's...renewing! :)

Hey all,

As far as the love dare goes, it really seems to be awesome. It is a bunch of little inconsequential things that when added together really do offer a lot to the relationship. Little things like making a point to call your significant other and ask how their day is going and a bunch of other stuff. It really makes you reflect on what it is that you have in your significant other and appreciate it a lot more.

There are some aspects that strike me as completly self-less and you have to be in a relationship where the other person is givin 110% of themselves to making it work also. All in all, i definitely think it is something to give a try and see if it makes a difference. We read the book each mornign and then perform the task that we are givine that day. Kinda nifty=-)

All in all the relationship is going great and we are both very happy. We are taking it day by day and really falling in love with each other a little more every day.

Man all I can say is this movie really kept my marriage together! We had been split up for over six months with me living in the house and her in an apartment. This movie really opens your eyes! Even if the other person is seeing what marriage and making those promises are all about. Someone has to step up and let their pride go. That's what I had to do after a lot of crazy things that happened, but in the end this is what I wanted and is what I got. My wife Back! Very good movie!

For real?

Bro- for real? Wow. Good for you.

There are all kinds of males in this world, but not many "men." The role of a man/husband in a marriage/relationship has sadly dissolved to bumbling imbeciles on TV.

Way to step up.

no doubt bro!! You know about 85% of guys are like that, that is why it is so hard to find a good woman. because of men that don't act like men.

The truth of the matter is your gone so much it can become easy to grow apart if you dont work at it. And it's not always the woman at home messing around on the guy either. Some guys are basically "single" once every 3 days when they leave to go to work. There are plenty of them with girlfriends on the side or chicks who come to the station to see them late at night. There are all sorts of awful stories circulating around work about certain guys who have come home from work to find some other guy nailing his wife. One guy shot another dude in his ass as the guy was crawling out of his back window, dead serious. Another guy at the dept had his best friend tagging his wife. Not only his best friend, but a guy at his station who rode the truck with him!! It had went on for 4 yrs before he found out about it. This other dude, while he was in recruit school came home one day and walked in on this dude plowing his old lady in the ass as hard as he could. He walked up to the guy and coughed a few times, dude just looked at him and said "whats up man" and kept right on nailing away. And then there was this one guy, he thought his girlfriend had been making his truck payments for him for the past few months, since she handled the money and bills. She was taking his money for his truck payments and giving it to this used car salesman she was banging. Poor bastards truck got repo'd shortly after, hahahha.
Then there was the "Friday night key club" basically a group of guys at the dept had this arrangement where they'd give a key to the other guy getting off shift that morning as they were going in. The key was to a hotel room where somebody else's wife was that night. They never knew which wife it was, it was somehow random. But they were all in on it and knew about it. Pretty fucked up huh>? Firefighters are fucked up. You can trust them with your life, but never trust one with your money or your girl.

A real man leads by serving, and i'm not saying that about myself btw, although i try, i have alot of work to do...

I just read your post Gators... I'm sorry. From what I can read I can call you a "blood brother".

Redemption and sanctification are still yours for the taking... grab hold.

Fireproof and Love Dare

Just watched the movie again with my wife. It's great, the message gets across. Thanks for the download Hotrocks. Remember Kirk Cameron...this guy balloned to 300 lbs before he got his shit together...very inspirational.
