Okay, so I'm 29 years old, 5'8, 215lbs, and 9.9% body fat currently. I've been lifting since I was 19 years old and cycling on-and-off for around 6-7 years.
I decided for my 30th birthday (which is May of next year) I want to do my first competition ever. The competition is in May so it works out perfectly. What better way to celebrate my 30th birthday than competing on stage for the first time!
I feel like after this many years of working out so hard I owe it to myself to take it to the next level. I have no intention of trying to go pro, but I am sure I'll do more than just this one show.
I own my own business and have a good career. I admire the pros but by no means is that what I'm after. I would however like to at least place in the Novice class (that is obviously the class I'll be competing in) when the time comes.
I won't start cutting down until the beginning of next year (probably in January) but in the meantime I'm bulking up and trying to put on as much mass as possible to get ready for next year when I cut down. I've also been looking at potential pre-contest diets to use when the time comes and this is one I've stumbled upon...

I read the entire book start to finish. I did some research and a lot of people seem to really like it (people who have used it for pre-contest diets themselves). These were people on other (less knowledgeable) forums however, so I was hoping to get some advice from some veterans on here (meaning people who have competed in one or more shows before).
The guys who wrote the book seem to know their stuff and from what I've read it all seems like a pretty good approach. I realize they wrote it because it's free advertisement for their supplements, but all that aside, what do you guys think?
Would this be a sound pre-contest diet or should I take another route?
