Fish Oil?

well since i was simply posting my personal findings when doing research on the subject (i have cardiovascular issues), i felt no need to post any! Im glad you gave me an example of 1 persons suggestions on the use of OFA's, and no disrespect to Mr. Porter, but one mans opinion is not enough, and shouldn't be enough to dictate what i will do with my health. I find it funny that the guy that is quick to tell other members to do their own research, is questioning my post, because i did not post up any studies/articles. Goes to show the weakness many on here demonstrate, that they accept advice from a guy that so often comes off with such an "air of superiority" attitude is amazing to me. I appreciate that you contribute to the board, but ease back on the "better than thou" act you have!!

LOL! You think I pulled the advice out of thin air? I have consulted with a half dozen doctor friends and read up and personally inquired with many of the best minds in the industry(that pay attention to health). I can't tell you the amount to take or not take regarding your cardiovascular issues...so I'm not going to even attempt that. You sure seem to be drawing a fuckload of conclusions about where my information is derived from. Let's say it is very well-rounded and 3g is a low estimate that I generally mention due to people finding it acceptable. Personally I plan to incorporate more...Cerberus has the right idea.

What about the opinion of Dr. Hector Lopez? Shelby and John had him on their radio show a few weeks back and he recommends upwards of 4-8 grams of epa/dha a day depending on the size of the individual

Don't even bother bro. James Caan knows all. You can find him in this post. We should all go for him because he knows best.

Not Hector Lopez...or any of the other 7 doctors I personally know that are in this specific field. Don't listen to any of these experts!

James Caan...with your health situation, you MAY be correct...but in general, for health I think there is much you could uncover.

I agree that most people use too little. John Meadows suggested to me to get around 4 grams a day. So im currently taking 12 caps spread throughout the day

It took me a long time to discover most people in the know talk of grams in terms of EPA/DHA even though they don't specifically say it. It does not surprise me that John has a similar idea of Dr. Hector Lopez and Dr. Eric Serrano.

I am considering using Carlsons as well since it is highly concentrated. 1tbsp=2400epa/1500dha

I haven't been on this forum very long (obviously), but from my own personal experience Knight's never acted that way. I think I've bothered him with questions more than anyone else on here, and the dude has never acted condescending or came off with an "air of superiority". Don't get me wrong there are those that do...any time you're on a forum about any subject there are people that act way...I'm just saying that hasn't ever been my experience.

I didn't take his post like that, he obviously just doesn't agree...so he told you to post a few articles...why don't you just post a few articles instead of doing all this?

Just my opinion.

I've heard good things about carlsons, I just don't think I could gag down a spoonful of that. What's your reasoning for switching to liquid? Just for the higher concentration?

I'd like to see if I feel any more benefits from it...or it's an easy way to ADD TO the caps. They come in lemon and sometimes cherry flavors. It should be much easier than taking liquid research chems or suspended oral AAS.

The only health issues ive seen reported negative about fishoil(aside from the obvious dont use cheap mercury junk) is possible increase in prostate cancer in elderly men. this isnt a good study though. Every thing I have read on prostate cancer is if a man lives long enough he has a high chance to develop prostate cancer, so fishoil may be the cause, due to its ability to increase longevity, lol. BTW If you take a lot and notice you bruise easy, drop it down some.

Again i laugh...this guys calls me a know it all, why because i posted what i found looking up information on the use of fish oils, i make one post, no disrespect towards any one, and this guy comes at me with his NORMAL shitty attitude, which unless you are all blind, he gives any one that doesnt agree with his comments. Well Joe Smith said it should be a million gallons of gasoline, if its not you are just wasting your time starting a fire bla bla bla. Well cool, i hope you are right, and i am wrong...the last thing i want is for any one on here to end getting sick, over the use of anything. For any one to blindly give out suggestion on what another man/woman should use, to me is bad business. Even if you were a doctor, unless you actually worked with the individual, you would have no idea what is right or wrong. I come here, i try and help those i can based on personal exp. but you will always have the types that need to be the center of attention, with an incredible desire to always be correct...and the sheep being just that, will always follow. Again i never attacked any one, i simply typed my own findings, what my cardiologist has told me, what my mothers oncologist told us both, and what a few specialist have told me. But hey they are neither BB'rs, nor do they work specifically with BB'rs..so they must not know what they are talking about.

One thing, i would like to say thank you to Knight9, based on his suggestion, i found a great product, toco sorb. See i can give credit when it is deserved.

Like with vitamins and minerals, I prefer to pull a lab analysis. Twice a year.

Why not pull a omega 3/6 fatty acid profile? Personally I take 2100mg of EPA and 1500 mg of DHA, daily. Aside from my primary food sources, this places my RBC→ EPA/DHA index in an optimal range. As highlighted in green [10].

And if I was to follow the advice on supplemental omega's. I would suggest reading up on Patricia Kane PhD.

You want omega 3s (fish oil among other sources) fats to be at one to one ratio with with omega 6s

Barleans. very reasonable price. zero fish burp which is critical for me. 9 a day or my joints burn. been with this brand for many years

So 10g a day fish oil is ok

Bro...read more carefully. The answers are spelled out very clearly in this thread. Don't pay attention to the big number on the front of the bottle...look for two key numbers....figure out if its per pill or per 2 pills etc and then add them together. Then you will figure out how much you need based on what you are aiming for.

Specifically, you want EPA and DHA..

like has been said....you need to read the label and check for the actual EPA/DHA amounts in the product, also what the serving size is. the one i buy which is where this label is from, provides 1000mg of EPA/DHA per softgel...another brand might be 4 for the same mg amount.

Listen to this guy, he knows his info!!

I say no more than 5g EPA/DHA depending on specific purposes..

9g EPA/DHA has merit in treating things like OCD (In my theory) and apparently chronic fatigue syndrome...

I typically eat 1lb of fatty fish daily so I feel like i don't need to supplement with EPA/DHA

Astanxathin maybe but I am lazy when it comes to supplements.

Specifically, you want EPA and DHA..

I eat a large tin of pilchards ed which is about 10g of omega 3 according to the label. What this is in epa/dha I don't know as there is no info on tin
