Flexdurden - Emergency Surgery

I received a text early this morning from Flex.

He is back at John Hopkins and is scheduled for surgery today (Friday 1/29)
for emergency surgery.

He has a diaphragmatic hernia; his intestines went thru his diaphragm causing compression to his right lung to 1/3 it's normal size.

I will be in touch with Mrs Flex and keep you posted.

Flex asked me to make a post, so please keep him in your thoughts and Prayers.

Believe it or not I had the same exact injury. When my condition was diagnosed they literally prepped me for surgery as they were explaining how dangerous it was for my life. It was an 11hour surgery. I was in ICU for four days after. The problem is the section of intestine that pushed into the long is cut off from blood flow and can die inside his body. This didn't happen to me. But if this happens it will lead to a colostomy bag and complications regarding internal infection. None of that happened to me and in fact my surgeon told me that my recovery was nothing short of incredible. He attributed much of my recovery to the steroids I was on. When I was admitted I told them that I was on gear and what I was on. Because they didn't want to impact my system any more than the surgery it self they had there compounding pharmacy produce what he felt was enough gear to maintain me. True story. How ever before I was checked out of the hospital they attempted to sign me up for an addiction therapy program. "NOT".
I hope Flex the very best. May God bless him and give him the strength he needs to over come this and move on.

BTW: I got this injury as a result of leg press sled over 1000lbs with a belt on. The grunting and the belt forced it all upwards instead of outwards.

I'm so sorry to hear this but as others have said, it couldn't happen to a stronger person! I know he'll be disappointed about the set back but he'll come back! Heal up Kris...we're all pulling for you!!
